Thanks very much

Yes it will, I sell the 6 discs one if you're interested (I just replaced it with another system).

Hello,
I'm a complete DIY newb. I am trying to install an aftermarket head unit on my '10 WRX. I've gone through all the threads here. They all assume that you know how to do wiring. What is the proper technique to connect the little colored wires from the head unit to the adapter? Do I just cut those cables, twist them together, and tape them? I don't want to create an unsafe mess. Thanks.

Buy some butt connectors and crimp them together. That, or solder them together but that's a lot harder!

Go to the Auto parts store and you can get the butt connectors and a crimping tool.

It's not too difficult -- several people have done this. Threads:
Factory NAV into non-NAV swap

Need someone to answer a question about their stock Navi!!!

Factory dvd navigation unit install in a non-nav MY09 Forester
You'll need to put together a 20-pin to 14-pin adapter for the power and speaker wires, plus a 24-pin Navi harness (which has the wires for A/V input, SWCs, and several nav-related functions). You may also want the harness for the reverse camera input. E-mail me for info on obtaining all of those harnesses.

Your car's steering wheel controls will work. You just need to connect the two SWC wires from the 20-pin harness to the 24-pin Navi harness.

Never simply twist the wires together and tape -- that won't last.

Soldering is best, but crimping works too. See offset’s Car Audio Manifesto and FAQ (one of the "sticky" threads at the top of the Car Audio/Video/Security sub-forum). In that thread, scroll down to his section "Car Audio Installation" and follow the links there.

I have an 08 WRX with the Nav system and the underseat subwoofer... I've been looking everywhere for this, hopefully someone can help...

The nav system has controls for "Subwoofer" gain... how can I tap into that for an aftermarket sub amp???

Very nice writeup. I just installed an AVIC-x910 this past weekend. I did notice one thing however, you most definitely do no need to go through all the work of removing the lower trim piece. I used my plastic install tools and was able to remove the trim around the radio with ease. Just my experience.

I have a question on the 08 Nav system with a Ipod and Sat. I have a Zune and I like it but there is one think I hate. That is trying to change songs or any other things. I have to look down at my Zune and if I did not have to do that I would be happy.

I can only find the manuals online for the user guide with the none nav. HU. I am wondering two things. Can I have a Ipod and my sat system? I know they use the same plug. Also can I change songs from my HU or would it be the same as I am stuck right now with having to hold the Ipod in my hand to change songs?

If anyone has the user manual for the Ipod with Nav can you post a link? Before I buy a Ipod and cable I want to make sure I have what I want.

Thanks,

Stereo related, though not regarding the dash or radio...

Removing the door panels: do I need to take off the sail panels to get the plastic door cards off? I'd rather avoid doing that, as last night during install/reinstall, the sail panel would not go back on tight due to the little silver clip not being able to snap back in properly.

Question

Hi everyone:-)

I`m from Poland, my father in law has got US spec Impreza WRX STI*********** (june 08). Know I`m trying to make conversion from US spec radio (CZ641U6) to EU spec radio (CP443L6). For a first glance both of them looks the same, they have same connectors (almost the same, because antenna connector looks different - it is not simple socket it has got wire with rectangular connector). My question is for what is the connector which is over the 8-PIN connector?

it is probably running the alternative subaru antenna plug, or possibly a European standard plug. All you will need is an antenna adapter to make it work.

Like the Metra 40-SB20

Or the Metra 40-EU20

It just depends on what plug they use over there. I'm not positive.

Thank You Thedaddyb:-) And what about this 20-PIN Connector above 8-PIN Connector? Does anybody know something about this?

The 20-pin socket is for Subaru's accessory modules for iPod or satellite radio (Sirius, XM). It could also be for an external CD changer, but I don't know if Subaru offers one for this radio.

There are after-market accessories that may work with that socket. See my post #169 in this thread. Also see this thread: uPAC-SB1 Installation. PAC's site now shows compatibility with "2008 Impreza," so they may have worked out the problems.

Default Don't Remove the Dash Trim

I just changed the stereo out my 2010 WRX Sedan. It is not necessary to remove the dash trim panel.

The dash trim panel clips on the top are much easer to work off than the ones on the side. The side corner ones are especially tight, do those last.

1. Don't touch the big trim panel.

2. Get a soft blade putty knife (plastic) or a trim remover tool (basically a thin, rigid plastic knife). The putty knife worked great for me.

3. Start at the top right. The knife should go straight down into the top right corner clip. Work that clip loose, the other 2 top clips will come out easily after that.

4. Do the side clips by hand after this.

Took me five minutes tops, not a scratch on the trim.

Fantastic thread. I'm planning a non-nav to Nav install in my STi in the future. Anyone know if the rear camera is prewired or is that only for the SUVs?

I'd try ebay before going to the dealer. Or maybe check the for sale part of the forum here?
