Default anyone else rocking a Braille Auto battery?

is anyone else rocking a Braille battery?

espically the 11.5 pound version?

just wondering how your car cranks over compared to the stock battery?

mine seems slower...it holds its charge..but it seems like it cranks just enough to rotate the engine and fire it up....im kinda iffy if this battery will be reliable for daily use or not.

maybe its the colder weather?...my car sits in a heated garage and it never gets below 50 in the garage.

im asking in here because i want to hear from other MWSOC people...i dont care about opinions from people in texas or california...

Subscribes to thread...

I don't have any info to offer, but I've wondered the same thing...I'll be due for a new battery soon, and wouldn't mind shaving some weight off my front end.

Here is his FXT on SF.org
There is a picture of his engine bay as an attachment so you might have to be a member to view it.

I think Roman has the large one.

Grip- the smaller ones normally have cranking issues in weather below 30deg. F.

mine cranks fine..its in a heated garage that never gets below 50deg. F.

it just seems a little on the slow side...as if its a high compression engine...know what i mean?

im hoping that once it gets warmer it wont be an issue...car isnt driven in the winter anyways.

So what size for those of us that drive them daily, and occasionally have negative double digit temps?

I've toyed with the idea of just slapping on a huge capacitor...don't plan on doing that...just like to fantasize!

if you drive daily all year round...just get any regular sized battery.

braille makes a oem sized battery..but why spend extra $ on somthing the same size as your oem battery or a optima battery?

the 11.5# battery is for street/race cars.
the 6# battery is for race only.

if you drive all year round get an optima or somthing.

I rock one. I switch to my stock battery for winter, but I use the 11.5lb unit the rest of the year. It worked fine even in November. Hope this helps.

Once you disconnect the battery your Ecu resets, so if you have a ecu flash you lose it.

i understand what EM stands for, and i understand what happens when disconnecting the battery.

who said anything about disconnecting the battery though?

im asking if temp has anything to do with the smaller Braille battery's cranking power....which it seems, it does.

im using an Apex'i Power FC

If you have a *realtime* flash, you lose it. Basemaps don't leave the car unless you tell them to via engine management.

Temp has a lot to do with any size battery. A stock battery will crank slower in this cold weather.

AP v2 saves the map that is on the car and will put it back onto the car once it is unmarried.

^^ thinking maybe he is concerned about reserve capacity in a smaller battery.

no worries.. the protune map is saved on your ECU, and therefore you canoot "lose" that map unless you over-write or reflash it.

Just got back from snowboarding last night and had to leave my car out in the cold for two nights. It cranked right up with no problems.
