Exclamation Cooling issues?

Im not sure if these two things are related but my cooling system was fine up until yesterday when I put on a new alt. Today I lost a pretty hefty amount of coolant, it didnt overheat just I noticed coolant was puddling under the car. I cant tell for sure until I can pull out the rad but I think the bottom of the rad is cracked....could putting in a new alt cause this to happen? Also what is the best way to go about pulling the rad....obviously waiting till it cools down but will clamping off the hoses be ok?

you may have leaned on the radiator when putting in the alternator. If the radiator was weak leaning on it may have been more then it could take, the straw that broke the camels back. Drain the coolant out, pulling the lower radiator hose is the easiest. Then pull the upper hose. Remove the two mounting points on the top and carefully guide it out when removing it.
