Default MY98 Impreza L: Cuise Control light burnt out

Hi Guys

I jumped in my Impreza yesterday and went to hit cruise, but the light on the button did not come on!

So i pressed it a couple times and no lights. Fog light button LED still works.

So I drove off and tried using cruise, works just fine, but no light.

I know this is kind of a little thing, but I'm trying to keep this thing in good shape.

Anyway, does anyone know how to(or has anyone) replaced the light in this button? Do i have to replace the whole button? if so, anyone know the part number?

By the way. this is a MY98 Impreza L two door coupe

Thanks for the help everyone, you guys rock!

1992 SVX,

you'd probably be better off just buying a new switch. I took apart a foglight switch and pieces fell out of it. I was never able to put it back together. That little button is kinda complicated. Sorry I dont have the part # but im sure Brian would.

Its not an LED in there, its a "rice" bulb. Its incadecant and its the about the size of a grain of rice with 2 really thin wires sticking out of them.

I found it really easy to change. Just take the switch off. On one side you should see a circular disk shaped thing. The disk on mine was brown. There will be a slot in it like a screw for a flat bladed screwdriver. Just unscrew it out, unwind the wires, remove bulb and replace =) You can find the bulb @ radioshack. They arent called rice bulbs there though. I think its called a minature model/hobby bulb or something. Your best bet would be to take it out first, and bring it to radioshack or any electronics store. Make sure the bulb you buy is for 12volts

Oh, one more thing. On the bulb in your switch, there will be a colored "condom" on it to make the light green/amber. Make sure you transfer that condom to your new bulb.
