Default CT: JDM v6 (MY2000) STi Wagon - RHD. 54k miles.

Car is gone!

As painful as it is for me to do this, I've got to let the coolest project I've undertaken yet go. This is far and away the cleanest, most complete, low mileage and fully legal JDM conversion I've seen. The only non-JDM parts on this car are the bare shell, and gas tank and hatch - which are from a US MY2000 wagon.

For the uninitiated, the v6 STi was the last of the GC bodystyle cars produced in Japan. These were never sold in the US. There are ~1800 of these in Japan, I'm very confident this is the only one stateside. These motors are 2.0L EJ207s, with VF28 ball-bearing turbos. They produce around 240whp, use 4.44 FD 5spds, run high 12s, and rev to 8200 rpms. This is a very different driving experience from anything US.

Sorry for the poor pictures, the car is obviously dirty here and these shots do not show the sideskirts. Will add updated pics ASAP.

Car is fully street legal, currently registered, insured and smogged.

Mileage: ~90km, 54k miles.
Color: Pure white
Location: Central Conn.
VIN: JF1GF2447PG801599

Mods:

v7 STi 10spoke rims w/ 75% Blizzacks
Cusco 1.5 way rear R180 LSD
Zerosports sway bars (24mm r, 22mm f)
Eifel endlinks, front and rear
Zerosports intake splitter
Zerosports rear strut bar
Zerosports axleback exhaust (sounds amazing!)
Zerosports intake pipe
Misc. STi silicone hoses
v6 front lip - genuine, painted to match
Slotted front rotors
CF door trim/shift knob
Factory boost gauge
v6 fog covers - genuine, painted to match
JDM titanium lug nuts (bling!)

I have many other extras I might be convinced to include, such as a Defi gauge set, Zerosports rad shroud, etc.

A little history on this particular car. I started by buying a complete v6 STi in Japan. It was running and driving well at the time of purchase, and was never involved in an accident. I have the owners manual and some maintenance receipts from the cars past life. Also, I have extensive documentation - hundreds of pictures - to show how this car went together, available on request.

In order to import the car to the US, the JDM shell was chopped in half - this is the only legal way to import the car. No matter what some people may tell you, JDM Imprezas are not road legal in this country - you must have a legit US shell.

Next, I bought a '93 US Impreza shell with ~212k miles. I tore it down to the BARE frame - the only holdover 93 part is the headliner. The car was painted pure white from the ground up, and new undercoating was applied anywhere visible from the exterior. I cut out the LHD portions of the firewall on the US car and welded in replacement panels from the JDM firewall. The factory sound deadening was removed and replaced with 3M undercoating. I also used POR-15 to seal the factory sheet metal against rust. I then transfered the entire JDM drivetrain (which was not dissembled at any point) into the US shell, and replaced the body panels. The exterior of the US car was then repainted.

I cannot emphasize enough that this is a complete STi - everything from the molding-less doors, folding power mirrors, JDM road flare, lightweight carpet/glass, etc.. is from the v6 STi donor car, so it all works properly, down to the airbags, abs, etc. This isn't so much a swapped driveline as a swapped shell. Many of the driveline bolts have never even been touched as I just lowered the US chassis onto it.

The car does need some finishing touches. I had planned to rework the paint on the 1/4 panels and roof over the spring/summer. It's a little thing in some spots, and the hatch still needs to be buffed (which I will take care of before I sell the car). It looks good from 10 feet, and the color match is excellent, but the car should be professionally resprayed at some point. The JDM body panels do show normal wear for their age. The windshield is cracked, and the roof moldings (I have brand new ones) should be installed when this is replaced. Also, the car does not have a trunk carpet or spare 17" tire. On the whole, the car looks good, and it drives flawlessly.

I'd like to get $16,500 for the car as it sits. I feel this is a very fair price given the enormous amount of work invested in this shell and the rarity/condition of the parts attached to it.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I can also be reached at j.white.uc -<at>- gmail dot com.

Thanks!
James

The shell is a 93 so it only goes through a smog check. Good luck with your sale, your wagon looks great and everything looks like the original.

Exactly, all the JDM emissions equipment is present and functioning, including a scan-port which is compatible with some US OBD-II scanners. No check engine lights, of course.

I hadn't thought of that.. I am aware of a couple v6 swaps that have been successfully smogged in CA fwiw.
