TiC Coilover Review
I usually don't post much on forums, but I'm very impressed/happy with TiC's Coilovers so here goes:
Sum: They ride extremely well and out perform any prior setup I've every had It passes the wife test. She found the TiC setup more comfortable than the Ohlins plus pinks (8 and 6 or -16 and -18 all around) Downsides: The springs are stiffer (can't beat physics) so its never gonna ride like a Caddy. Vehicle:05 wrx sedan: Prior suspension setups 1) Stock struts with 16 in rims 2) Stock struts with prodrive blues and 17 inch rims 3) Ohlins Struts with prodrive blues and 17inch rims 4) Ohlins struts with RCE Yellows (V1) and 17 inch rims 5) Ohlins struts with JDM pinks I used group N hats and RCE camber plates with the above setups The TiC coilovers outperforms all the above setups. In terms of comfort, maybe only completely stock and Ohlins with blues are "more comfortable" but even that is relative. First, whether it be due to the travel length or damper designs, unlike with the ohlins, I have yet to get a harsh bang or crash on any of the crappy buffalo pot holes. Second, the springs are far stiffer than any of my previous setups, but because of the way the coilovers are setup/damped, it doesn't feel harsh in anyway. Third, the suspension will feel different than any combo of lowering springs/struts, since the spring rates on these coilovers are 7k 5k. So as stated in a previous review, the car's chassis just reacts faster, but there is no annoying bobble head or harshness. Simply put - these coilovers are comfortable, wife approved and outperform anything I head before at a comparable cost. Suspension currently: TiC AST coilovers with front vorshlag plates, group N rears Whiteline ALK (comfort) STI Titanium Front Strut Bar S204 front damper S204 Rear damper Beat Rush lightweight subframe Cobb Front Sway STI 21 mm rear sway Kartboy Endlinks Whiteline Ball joint Extenders STI Aluminum control arms Whiteline adjustable lateral links and STI trailing links 17 Inch Wheels

Right now they are set around 13.75 all around, will adjust to 14 all around when I get a proper alignment/let everything settle completely. Damper setting is at -11 and -11. That's a bit softer than what TiC recommends, but I find that setting pretty comfortable. (and yes, every click makes a noticeable difference)
Pics - when the weather in buffalo clears up and my car isn't covered in a sheet of ice, I'll take and post some pics |
