I have a new cat...new-ish.

This is Dammit.

My ex needs to move and her new place ain't going to be cat friendly. She asked if I'd take Dammit on and I agreed instantly.

Dammit is a pretty cool lil cat. She's an ex-feral and, as you can see, is full on resting bitch face cat. She's not "sweet" per se...but is friendly. The only times I "get" to pet her is when I come home from work, when I go to bed, and when I wake up in the AM.

All other times she's either cruising around the apartment or sitting in different places and silently judging me.

I did discover that she is absolutely enthralled by videos of birds (NASIOC ain't letting me upload the pic of her staring at the video)...so I've got something good to play for her when I'm at work.

So yeah...cool cat. I'm a fan.

EDIT: Holy hell was she staring at the picture of herself while I had it up on the screen. That was hilarious...never had a cat that paid this much attention to a screen before.

EDIT 2: Was able to upload the other picture...guess it didn't like my cropping?

Quite possibly. She was way into it. I put it on a couple different time through the evening and every time she stopped what she was doing to watch...at one point getting on the floor and sitting a few feet away.

I've got an old laptop (battery is basically toast, gotta be plugged in if I want it to run for longer than 15 minutes) that I think I'll put on a loop of bird videos while I'm out...give her something more interesting to watch when I'm out of the apartment. I love that my place is sheltered from sun and such but it gives very little visual entertainment for a cat and clearly she digs bird videos.

One of my cats likes to watch TV, but she is more interested if the subject is of interest to cats, cat videos or squirrels or something like that. Sometimes she looks for the bird or squirrel.

My oldest cat will pay attention to TV if it has kittens mewling. Otherwise, ignore.

The middle cat could not care less.

Welp. That didn't last long. We ended up adopting three cats from a HS shelter two weeks ago. A pair of ~1 yo siblings, a boy and a girl, and a two year old female who already had a litter of kittens last year.

Siblings: The male one is a big mush and lovable, also an oaf who doesn't understand how large an muscular he is. His sister was the timid one and was not so outgoing at the shelter, and she is completely bonded with her brother. Her brother helped her break out of her shell, and now she is the more lovable one, although, she, too, is crazy, and loves to run around the house like a maniac. They both like to be pet and purr very loudly.

We initially wanted to just get two and be done with it, but we decided to take the other female, who, so far, have been reserved. Of course she was post-op for spaying, as well, but she healed pretty well by now. We think, and the shelter mentioned this somewhat, tat she was mistreated before, so it may take her a while to trust us. She is usually content letting us pet her, if she is just sitting in the cat tree, or will come towards our hand when we extended while in the kitchen, but if we move towards her, she takes off and goes and hides. In the beginning, she did not have much love for the other two, but she has come around, and now she at least tolerates he other two. She is considerably smaller than the other two, so she may be sacred of the two larger bullies running around the house. Anyway, here are some pics.

Here are the siblings: Male (white one), Hammond and his sister, orange tabby, Ginger (Ginny)

Good on you for getting them all out of the shelter. Looks like they’re tolerating each other well enough to be that close.

According to my fleabitten wife's friends, today is celebrated in Poland as International Cat Day.

Of course, for my obnoxious spoiled cats, every day is International Cat Day, traditionally celebrated with food and treats and pettings and toys and games and naps in comfy spots.

Lock it up in a safe. One of my cats would leave it alone for months/years, then decide one day, hey it's time to sit on the toilet seat and just unroll/shred it all.

Yeah we've had the cats for almost 2 years (July will be 2 years) and Boots has been fine until a few months ago. Now when we go to bed we close the bathroom door so he doesn't go in there overnight and shred it.

Yesterday while we were at work he shredded the TP.. This morning when I left for work I left the empty roll on there Got ya

This was last week I think. I didn't get a picture of yesterday's.

Default OT Cat Thread. All kitty, all the time

Hey dudes. Anyone here use one of these litter box enclosures? Suggestions for something of quality? Mr Felix spreads litter all over, with my new floors I’m trying to minimize the how much litter gets out of the box.

Here’s the current set up. The blue mat helps, I clear it off often but still get a good amount of litter tracked out in the area around it.

So, Sassy has a checkup coming up at the end of this month - just an annual physical, nothing spicy - and as far as I am aware has not been in a cat carrier since she was a kitten, minus the first time I took her to the vet, and that was only because they put her in the carrier when she was still under anesthetic.

We are not having a lot of success getting her into the carrier, even with treats - she's like "nuh uh. I'm not going in there." It's a short drive to the vet but I'm trying to make it minimally traumatic for both of us . Any tips?

What type of carrier do you have? We switched to one of those dual doors (top load / front load) type carriers and have had better success getting Mr Felix into it. I usually grab him by all 4 ankles and guide him in from the top. He can't latch on to prevent entry so it works out.

Most of the time his travel is up to my wife's parents house where he loves going so lately he hasn't been resistant to the carrier at all.
