the interference is the type of engine.

how long did u drive it in its current condition?
After I started having some troubles with it I took it off the road and jumped into my toyota pick-up. When I do work on it I will drive it aorund the neighborhood and on the back roads to test it out etc.

hows the clutch?
the Clutch is Brand new.

wheel bearings and all that goodstuff?
the wheel bearings are good. I had a tech check it out when I bought it and he gave them the go ahead. I drove it a total of about 2k miles

ever been in an accident?
I have never been in an accident and when I took it to the dealership, the tech checked it out and never saw any signs of an accident (change in paint), mis-aligned body pannels etc.

history?
the vehicle was purchaed in CT. the car was driven by an adult across country a couple of times from VT to CO. Mainly highway miles which is why the tranny was replaced. 5th gear was just used way to much.

any reciepts or anything like that from prev. work done?
I will check to see what recipts I have. If it comes down to it I could probily have you speak with the subaru tech who performed all of the work on the car.

how are the tires?
the tires will most likly need to be replaced. the car sat for about a year (I drove it around the block a couple times a week to keep them as fresh as posible

ever been repainted?
the ONLY thing that has been repainted is the front hood scoop. it was chipping so I sanded, primed and painted a flat black to match the lower trim....It looks much beter now.

Im looking for a beater and i dont want major problems like mis-firing. Ill let you know if I wanna come take a look at it or something. thanks and free bump!

The Tranny was blown. the 5th Gear "disapeard". the mechanic called me back. He took the oil pan off and looked all inside. He couldnt find any metal or anything! He said that 5th just simply vanished.... I had the Dealership replace the tranny with a new clutch also, so it works tit

OK. Update.

I had the master tech look at the car. He did his diag and came to this conclusion. the head gaskets are fine and not blown. He did say that the #1 cylinder is miss fireing. the Over heating is caused by some blockage in the radiator. He suggested that the Passenger side head be taken off and taken to a machine shop and the radiator be taken and cleaned out or replaced all together. He figured that with the passenger side head that there in a mechanical problem causing it to miss fire. without opening it up to see the exact problem he can only guess. He feels that the Exhaust valve is slightly bent. He came to this conclusion becouse he could "feel" and hear a sound comeing out of the tail pipe. Hes a master subie tech so I will take his word for it. He suggested I sell it for $2k to get rid of it. I have already posted it at 1,800 as is.

this is a great car to easily fix if you are mechanicly inclined to do so. basicly, you would need to take the head off and have a machine shop install new valves all the way around. When I did it to the drivers side, the total cost came to roughly $200. As for the radiator He siggested flushing it or just replacing it all together. The car does run but with the radiator problem it has a tendency to over heat after about 20 minutes on the road. you could drive it and let it sit and drive it and let ti sit if you really want to get it home. Again

The head gasket is not the cause of the over heating.
