Thought I would get this started for you...there may be a trend that emerges that makes it easier to identify the run or type of vehicles that have issues. It will also make it harder for Subaru to refute the claims....have to be organized!!

Post here even if you have already posted in the other thread..Please do not post other comments (use the other thread for this).

Short summary of feedback from Subaru and/or Dealershp: After getting the run around they said they would fix it. They are just going to touch it up. And I know I will not be satified with the fix cause the whole car needs to be repainted to make the paint match. And with how much I wash and wax the car, with out clear coat it will just come off. The bumper, hood and fenders are beat up from vehicle passing me going the opposite way. I have rust on the roof and a couple places on the hood. .

just letting you all know, subaru paint = shiet.

My whole front bumper after an hour of high-speed driving in the country side = crappy front bumper that feels like sandpaper.

and just recently. I took a pebble on my window and driving above 70mph actually causes a crack to spread. So now I'm driving a car with a cracked windshield. My jeep took rocks and tree branches and flying mud from a truck and not a single chip on the windshield. my subie has a crack and millions of tiny chips from the salt in the winter time. Paint is holding up OKAY, just a few hundred more chips on the hood.

Short summary of feedback from Subaru and/or Dealershp: I brougth it to the service manager Tom, he used compound on an effected area and told me to make a detailing appointment and it won't come back and if it does then he has to get his supierors involved. I cam back the following week asked him to get Subaru involved. he gave me a card w. a number and sent me out. I asked isn't it your job to call? so I called they had Tom take a pic to send to SOA. But tom used his personal camera. they say its "rail rust from transportaion of the vehical." and that a detail should take care of it. I personally didn't see the pic he sent to them. And SOA has been very nic but she said Loman was suppose to call and its been over 2days for them to call me to schedule an appointment for a detail.

What do we need to do to file a class action suit? Because if this turns out to be a recall? lets remember a brand new 07 impreza cost $1,000 more than the new 2008 impreza. Where were the costs cut? the paint? no production in sun/moon roofs? What else did they jip on? see the new comercial about being eco friendly?-what biodegradable paint?

Short summary of feedback from Subaru and/or Dealershp:no complaints so far about paint, they said there going to send pictures in to subaru of my car..
Milage when noticed defect:6k
Location of defect with pictures:i dont have enough film for that.. my entire hood, my entire bumper, on the front pillars, on my doors, skirts, pick any place on the car, it has some type of paint mark ( i found this out by waxing my car, its funny, you cant get wax out of a paint chip so my car has a very nice white finish to it now also)

dont know if anyone else noticed, but it seems the paint scratchs REALLY easy too.. oh and the doors dent just as easy..

also agreeing about the windshield, randomly cracked.. but got fixed cause wasnt my fault.. and it also has chips in it.. and a scratch like something got stuck in my windshield wiper..

I was at the dealer yesterday for the second time about the paint issue.
The service rep took a bunch of digital photos of my car including the "build plate" on the door and the odometer.
They will be forwarded to SOA for review.
He said they were aware of the problem on the lower section of body work on the older cars like mine without the clear film.
The "fix" is to repaint and apply the film like the newer built cars have.

They aren't sure what they're going to do about the chips higher up on the doors.
The way I see it, nearly the entire side of the car will need to be repainted up to the bottom of the windows.

Hey there

I have a Lightning Red 08, so far only spotted a little chip on the hood.

What I wanted to know is how much the RallyArmor really helps regarding rear doors and fender.

I had mine installed by the dealer before I got it delivered.

And yes I have noticed that the paint scratches easily. My red 08 has thin surface scratches all over it after the dealership cleaned it with a bad sponge or something. That will be fixed however. The quality in the paint seems to be low. Like it needs a thick layer of clearcoat.

I do not have the typical sandblasting chipping going on, but I also noticed a factory installed 3m protector near the lower part of the rear door jams (where most of the major rock chips have been occurring)

What I have a bunch of scratches near the rear passenger door from people getting in and out of the car. At least that is all I can attribute to how the scratches got there.

There is a scratch up high, right behind the passenger rear door. There is another running along most of the gas tank lid, and the most recent is a scratch along the edge of the rear door jam. This is absolutely rediculous that the clear coat basically chips off with almost no pressure to it. I feel like I can't have anyone in my car now and I am scared to go camping where I might have to go on gravel. So everyone has to go get their brand new 08's repainted so they can make sure their paint will last longer than 6 months?

I took my car to the dealership a few weeks ago and they took a bunch of pictures of the damage.
See my previous post in this thread.
They got approval from SOA for the fix and now want me to go to their body shop for an estimate.
Like I mentioned before, the only way I see to properly fix this is to repaint both sides of the car from the top of the fenders down.
I don't know if they're going to go for that.
I will see after I get their estimate and I'll post what they say here.

Driver door 9" below door handle; pea sized chip. Couple of very minor chips on the rear doorwells, i.e. the edge between the door panel and body.

Not enough chipping to warrant going to the dealership for a repaint, and I'm no longer driving it until either to keep from getting more damage until: a) I get the car clear coated, or b) just going to sell the car.

Way to go Subaru! You've just lost a return customer when I buy my next new car!

Just might have to go for the Lancer Ralliart when they start hitting the dealer lots.
