Default Falken 452 vs Falken 912 (or 512)

Does anyone have experience with these two tires. How does the dry and wet grip compare etc?

the 912 was pretty decent.... better than the re92s in every respect.... but no superstar. it was a good tire though... esp. for an all-season

Yeah the 912 is a great all-season. Coming from a summer tire you'll notice the softer sidewall, but they grip pretty well and work in dirt, snow, and rain. I even placed well rally-xing with them.

I have the FK-452, wet and dry grip is great on these tires, I would really recommend them if you're looking mainly for a summer tire that won't cause issues in the rain, decent pricing on them as well.

the fk452 is a maximum performance summer tire while the ze912 is an all-season. in both dry and wet, the fk452 will be far better than the ze912, but i wouldn't try driving the 452s in the snow or cold.

in the dry & wet, extreme/maximum/uhps > all-season.

however, the ze512s i had performed admirably in the dry but they don't compare to the re070s or ecsta mx's.

I've had both 512's (two sets) and 912 (currently have a set on my wife's car). They have pretty good grip. They can't really compare with a summer performance tire, but they will be perfect for everyday driving. One big plus I've noticed is that they are very quiet. Their rain performance isn't as good as the 512, but they are wearing more evenly. The 512 have such soft sidewalls, that the shoulders wear off a lot faster than the middle.

For the price, 912s are hard to beat. I got my wife's set for $44/per tire from Edge Racing.

I have the 912's on my car now and I like them a lot. Didn't have any problems this winter with the couple snows we had. Great in the wet, basically an all around good all-season tire.

I agree, you don't get snow and probably rain is a rarity as well down there.

You probably need some more dry summer oriented all seasons, if there is such a thing....

My ideal tire would be something that lasts about 30K and is good in the dry and wet. I don't care about snow since Austin shuts down when it snows once every ten years.
