Default FS: 2002 Silver WRX - Denver CO - $10,100

* 2002 Silver WRX
* 68XXX miles
* Accident-free
* All services performed at Flatirons Subaru in Boulder
* Bridgestone RE960AS tires with full-size spare, less than 5000 miles put on
* Recently replaced front struts
* New windshield
* Passed emissions in May 06
* Title is clean and in my possession
* VIN: JF1GD29622G521243
* Price: $10,100 (ONLY for established forum members, everybody else pays $10.5!)

I am the original owner, bought new in winter of 02. It pains me to get rid of a reliable, accident-free, low-miles vehicle, and I just can't justify keeping it anymore. You see, last spring I got into bicycling and last fall I acquired a motorcycle. I live in the city, its only 3 miles to work, and 98% of places I want to go are less than 10 miles away. For the past year, I've been driving 3-4 times a month on average in nice weather, a little more often when there's snow and rain.

The price is $10,100 firm, and this is a SPECIAL PRICE for established forum members! I plan to give this posting a week or two before I enter into the depths of hell known as Craigslist. When I post it there, the price will be $10,500, just like the for sale sign I put on it today. I am selling it here for a lower price to say THANK YOU to all the forum members who make this place great. You all really helped me out when I was deciding on what car to buy, and whenever I had a question about something I usually found the answer here.

If you check out my profile you'll see that my post count is non-existent. I am more of a lurker kind of guy anyways Nonetheless, this ad is for real. I'd prefer to deal with someone local, but if you have to have this car and live out of state, maybe we can work something out.

Car is COMPLETELY stock with following factory options:

* STI short throw shifter w/titanium knob
* Premium sound system (cassette player is borked, CD player and radio are fine)
* Auto-dimming mirror (compass still works, dimming does not)
* Upgraded security system

Here are some things you might not like about the car:

* Smoked in for the last 20k miles or so, I expect the detailer to take care of most of the odor but I won't be surprised if it lingers a bit
* Moderate scrape on left-rear bumper, no structural damage but the paint really shows it
* Ex-wife drove it for awhile without the driver's side floor mat in place, so there are a couple divots in the carpet below the gas and clutch.
* Stock floor mat is in place, but the securing point for it is loose so it scrunches forward after some period of time.
* Normal number of door dings and paint chips for a 6 year old vehicle
* Some scrapes on the plastic molding around the rear seats

Pictures coming this weekend after the detailer works it over. Feel free to PM me with questions. Thanks for your interest!

Back from the detailer today and they did a great job. I had the top-of-the-line job done, took $150 and three hours to finish. I met a non-smoking friend for lunch and she said it smelled better than her car! Even though its overcast today, I took some pictures in City Park. Those should be following in my next two posts, the good and the bad.

Here are the problem areas, as requested (the bad).

Paint chips on the hood, normal highway driving

I didn't mention this damage in my original post, but here it is anyways, right front. I think this is the result of a parking lot miscalculation.

Scrape on left rear bumper.

Ex-wife carpet divots

In case you have doubts about how well the detailers did with the car, here's a picture of my friend who checked it out afterwards and gave it the thumbs up.

C'mon guys, could a lady like this be wrong?

EDIT: She likes this picture better, and I included my car this time

think you could have a body shop give you an estimate on fixing the damage? i'm quite interested in your car but would like to know how much it'll cost to fix...

I can swing by a body shop this weekend. Sorry for the delay, working lots of hours and that'll be my first opportunity.

In the mean time, are there any semi-experts on body repair reading this? If so, care to give a opinion?

sounds good to me, sj. thank you!

any chance you could describe the floor mat issue further? i'm also curious as to whether the divots on the floorboard carpet are able to be somehow lifted... how bad are the door dings and the interior scrape?

Sure, if you look at the driver's side floor mat on an 02 WRX, near the seat and the driver door, there is a small, reinforced opening in that corner of the mat. That opening is to hook the mat onto a post that sticks out from the floor of the car. In my car, this post has come loose. I'm sure something could be jury-rigged or replaced pretty quickly by a professional, it never bothered me much to readjust the mat by hand every so often. Obviously it bothered the ex quite a bit, so YMMV

I'll have to defer to somebody else on lifting the floorboard carpet, maybe I'll ask the body shop guy this weekend.

The door dings aren't as bad as the paint chipping on the hood. I'll take a picture of the driver door soon and post it up.

I was mistaken about the interior scrape, its on the rear passenger door vinyl not the plastic molding.

This is the best shot I was able to get of the door dings. Looks similar on the driver's side.
