Default will a 04-05 wrx tranny work on my 02 wrx?

well i blew put my tranny in my 02 wrx and im looking for a new one, ive heard that 04-05 wrx trannys are better/stronger/whatever, but will it fit right up to my 02 or are there "things you have to do"? i really need to know if anyone has done this, i dont really want to here, "yeah a friend of a friend did it and it worked great no problems....", i need first hand experience and/or a subby tech to answer this. dont be offended by the way this is comming off its just that ive got realllllly bad advise before from someone that thought they knew what they were talking about....
if you would pm me with the answer also(that way i dont have to go looking for this in the threads..)

depends.. are you just looking for a replacement or a stronger tranny that'll hold up to more abuse? If you can afford PPG's & plan on putting down 300+ to the wheels or more go w/ a 6-speed swap or stronger gears. If it's a little costly & you're only putting down stock to stage 2... etc #'s then just search for another 5-speed.

The tranny will work. You will either need to get new axle stubs or convert your box over to accept yours. Stubs is the only difference that will not allow you to bolt it up right away.
