Default 88 Toyota Supra w/2JZ swap completed

PAYMENT PREFERENCE: Cash, Cashier's check
------------------------------------------------------------------

ITEM: 88 Toyota Supra Targa 5spd with 2JZ swap and T61 single turbo setup.
PRICE:$8150 firm
LOCATION: Auburn, OH (near Cleveland)

All pics can be seen here: http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...724/2JZ%20MK3/

DESCRIPTION: This car with it's upgrades should be making 350 hp at the rear wheels. If you were to add only an afpr and a s-afc, and have it tuned, you should get over 420rwhp on pump gas easily. This car is super clean for an '88. The chassis has around 165K miles on it. Red, with grey cloth interior, has the full set of interior panels from the 2.5TTR and new console cover, shift boot, and e-brake cover. The dash does have some cracks above the cluster. Mainstream Performance in Powder Springs, GA performed the 2JZ-GTE swap. They used an Aristo clip that had around 50K miles on it. The R154 transmission was a unit they had at the shop that was in excellent condition. The 1JZ bellhousing and flywheel were purchased brand new from Jay Marks/Champion Toyota. Boost is set just under fuel cut right now, around 13 psi, and the car pulls hard, especially in second and third once it's moving. I can't imagine what it will feel like once the boost is turned up past 20 psi where the turbo will really shine. Some comfort parts are not currently on the car, but will be provided with the car if the new owner would like to put them back on. These include the lines for the air conditioning, and the power steering rack. Two sensors need to be switched out for the oil pressure and coolant temperature gauges in the dash to read correctly. Car does have aftermarket water temp gauge. The speedometer is currently not reading, my best guess is the cable needs to be replaced. I am also working on finding replacements for the steering column switches, the headlights only work on bright, and the wipers do not work on the intermittent setting. The driver's side window switch is fussy, but works reliably with a few pushes, but the auto-down doesn't work anymore, and you can't control the passenger window from the driver's side. The driver's side door lock solenoid melted itself and does not function. The front floorboard area will need to be covered with thermotec matting or something similar, it gets warm on long drives, but I drove it home from South Carolina to Ohio late last year, it was not uncomfortable and 80 degrees outside, targa top was off.

As far as performance goes, here's the setup:

-SC6176S T4 turbo
-XS POWER manifold that has been cleaned up and had some rewelding done for strength(used for a while before I bought it with 0 problems)
-Custom 3" turbo-back exhaust starting with a V-band downpipe with wideband bung and ending with a magnaflow muffler. Sound is nice and deep.
-TiAL 44mm wastegate open to atmosphere
-Custom intercooler piping using the stock MK3 front mount
-MKIV fuel pump
-Dawes devices manual boost controller
-TurboXS RFL BOV

Suspension:
-H&R springs
-Tokico blue struts

Wheels and Tires:
-Volk GT-P's 17x8 front, 17x9 rear (once center cap missing)
-Falken GR Beta FK451's 245/45 front, 275/45 rear (brand new August 2007, and very few miles since that time)

Since my ownership:
I bought the car early fall last year 2007. Why am I selling it now? While I love the car, my wife has given me permission to sell it and take the money as down-payment for MKIV supra.... (why she couldn't just do this to begin with when I asked 8 months ago, I don't fully understand, ). But MKIV is my true dream car, I got the MKIII cuz prior she didn't want me to finance any vehicle and $9000 is what i had saved to buy a car. I paid $8700 for it.... Stored it this winter... you can get a great deal on a 2JZ red supra targa at my expense. Former seller had over $13,000 into the car and swap... i'm trying to account for gas price increases too, in lowering my ask price, i want to move this car quick so i can bid on a MKIV on ebay. Ask price is firm... this is no firesale.

Thanks for looking, PM me with questions or to come see it... The paint and body is pretty good, its been re-sprayed.... while not perfect, it looks good, you can see the overspray marks in some spots if you get up close to the rocker panels at the base of the vehicle, otherwise they did a nice job with it. Car runs well, starts every time for me, does pull hard, overall is fun to drive. If i don't get any offers for it, I won't have a hard time keeping it. Since owned I've driven it home from South Carolina to my place in Ohio, ran fine no issues but I have added coolant since and I've seen a slow coolant drip on the garage floor, which tells me its leaking coolant from somewhere, I have not identified the source yet, has not been an issue while driving. SC to OH I didn't have need to add water at all, so its not a fast leak by any means. Battery is toast, or needs a good long charge, but I'll replace it with a new one if sales price remains above $8000.

Thanks for your reply. Could i have one of driving/idleing/revving. Id just like to see how smooth it idles and how it sounds in high rpms and see what the boost sounds like outside when its driving by.

Man, I was just talking about you and the car today, wondering if you had gotten it out for the summer and planning on upgrading anything. Good luck on the mkiv.

It always idled perfect for me. You're going to have a hard time hearing anything at high rpm's except for the wastegate, maybe if he eases into it and just runs the gears out. You hear the turbo spooling really well until the wastegate opens, then that's all you hear. It's great Sadly I don't have any videos, or I would post them up for you. This car really is $1000 or so away from 500+rwhp on 93 octane, not that it's not fast already.

Default hey

Thanks for weighing in Andrew!

I have taken the car out once this year... Had rims/tires on order and was shopping fuel injectors and the whole nine yards...

Then I got to yapping about it with the wife and she got the whole "you're going to spend the whole summer under the hood of that car and I'm never going to see you" crap going.

(its always been a battle no matter what car I was working on at the time, she's a bit needy and I have car flowing thru my blood)... That usually spells a fight.

So the compromise is for her to let me buy a car that I can just sit in and drive fast.

And not that I can't do that now with the MKIII, but that I was putting together alot of bigger plans for it and she could see how it was going to be (like when I had the WRX, which started from bone stock and spent SO much time, money, and effort on it over 4yrs, she hated the car by the time I was done with it, and I was to the point of cracking the block open to have internals work done to get any faster).

So what's funny, I'm leaning away from the MKIV now too. I think I'm going to get BACK into a WRX.... Only this one is already FASSSST and bad to the bone... (KPOWELL's ride, sub 12 second car ).

She agreed I could get buy his car if I sell the Supra, and don't do any work to on the wrx at least until its paid off. I collapsed and agreed.

Another time perhaps for the MKIII and me. My mistake can be someone elses BARGAIN.

Somebody make me an offer.........

sick car man. If it didn't have all of those little electrical issues and what not I'd be all over it.

No longer for sale...

Rethinking that I should be holding onto this car, and just hunker down and do some work on it... the potential is just great. The wife is gonna have to live with it, nothing she hasn't done before.

mods please close.
