Question Need Help: Clunk from front right forrester

Hi all,

Friend of mine just bought a 98 with about 30K miles. I did the 30K service for him, but on a test drive noticed that on corners where it pushes the right front wheel up, like pulling into a gas station or a driveway, it makes a clunk/rattle noise. I had the wheels off to check the brake pads, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Any ideas on what this could be? Checked and carfax doesn't show any accidents.....so that shouldn't be the call

Thanks!

Pull wheel and check strut/spring for starters.

It's the remains of the cute furry animal he ran over last week, just knock them out with a stick.

My guess is wheel bearings. Maybe wheel hubs, too.

Also, check the axle boot - one tore on our Mazda and it made strange sounds.

Good luck.

Both my Impreza OBS and my Legacy wagon made a snapping sound when making off-camber turns. Turned out it was the end links bushing.
