Default so i was doing the drl disable mod...(engine making 'modem' noises?)

and accidentally pulled the other plug out, the one in the pic in post #32: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...disable&page=2

i started up the engine, and turned it off immediately cause the engine was idling roughly and the tach was moving erratically from 1000~2500rpm

so...i kind of think i pulled some kind of thing for the engine then, (i read that the module i pulled out was the high beam connector?)

i get modem sounds coming from my engine now when switching the key to the 'ON' position (engine is off), and a little whining noise from the engine bay (from the proximity of the engine block)

i searched for someone else with the same problem and came up with this: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...e+modem+sounds but for the wrx though.

so i have the same symptoms, CEL on, cruise light flashing....and the weird noise from the engine bay...

is this normal? should i be worrying? i read from some of the posts in the provided link that it will go away in a month of driving? should i take it to the dealer?

edit: i hope this is the right forum as well because of the plugs i pulled and the engine reacting to the plugs. also because if i have a modem or something in my subaru engine i have the right to know and use it for my passengers to surf the internet on their laptops.

did u pull the plug under the dash or under the hood? if so..

are you sure you pulled the plug on the drl resistor??? sounds like u may have pulled some other type of sensor under the hood, causing your engine problems..

for now i would plug whatever it is back in

Plug it back in, disconnect the battery and press on the brake (to release any current left in the system). That may help reset the ecu and possibly the problem.

yep, i tried under the dash method, cause im installing HIDs, the problem is i followed the wrong instructions and pulled the one from post 32 form that how-to thread.

i did plug it back in though, and still had the problem for a day. i left it in my garage without driving it after.

(i was going to do the battery disconnect thing and ecu reset, but instead tried another method.)

update: i am happy to report that the problem resolved itself. i took the car out for a evening drive and shut off the engine after 5 minutes, the cruise control blinking turned off but the noise and CEL light was still on. when i started my engine again the CEL light went off after a couple of minutes and i can safely say that i did the DRL disable mod successfully.

thanks for the suggestions.
