Default transmission question

I have a 2005 impreza 2.5rs and want to swap a WRX motor into it, will i need to change the transmission or will the stock 2.5rs transmission be able to handle it?

Keep your stock transmission. I used to run an '04 STi motor with a stock '05 2.5i transmission in a '99 RS. I only used the car for track days and the transmission held up fine.

The transmission should be fine but the old stock clutch will probably be too weak. The ACT clutch is a favorite choice of swappers. Don't be too aggressive on the clutch or it might not last as long.

I might have one you could buy assuming I can fix a jammed WRX trans this weekend. I swapped an STI engine into a 98 RS and originally planned to use the stock RS trans but got a great deal on a WRX trans only after buying the ACT clutch.
