Unhappy Newbie Here

I just picked up my first WRX, it's a 2003 WRX with a ej25 swap and a vf39 turbo. It scoots down the road but my only problem is when I go wot it feels like im hitting a fuel cutout(like it just loses power for a second). If I go just partial throttle it never does it. Anyone have any idea which direction I should go to start troubleshooting?

What is your boost set at? Is their a tune? Almost sounds like your hitting fuel cut from a boost spike.

CEL should light up and would give you the code. Probably wastegate actuation.
Most likely its an overboost issue.

The boost is sitting right around 12 psi and a tune is currently being made for it right now, since I spoke with the previous owner today and he informed me no tune was ever put on it after the swap.

No CEL lights when it stutters, but I did notice when I cleaned it off today it did it a lot more after it got wet so I'm thinking maybe a bad coil pack or a short somewhere.

grounds.

if subarus are anything like my old GTI, bad grounds will cause the injectors to open the flood gates (pun intended); that may be the stutter you're witnessing. The car getting wet would highlight poor grounding as well.

chances are i'm wrong, but it's always a good idea to resurface your grounds!
