Rally Stuff FS (NYC) - Project 1.8L Impreza Rally Car

1993 Subaru Impreza 1.8L Rally Car
A steal at $2,500 obo
Cash only, no trades.

The car needs work and has non-structural rust. The car does not run or drive right now, but the motor was fine before I started taking the car apart. You will need a trailer and some dollies to get the car on it.

Rally Notes
  • CARS Logbook
  • 11 Rallies, 1 DNF
  • Canadian car, Clean CT Title
  • Class: Rally America = Open; NASA = P2
  • I got an "AWD waiver" to run this as my first car in Rally America (they have a rule against novices running AWD), if you are a reasonable person and have someone to vouch for your sanity you can probably get the waiver too.
  • The car dyno'd at 72hp to the wheels and weighs 2,800+ lbs (this is why you can probably get the AWD Waiver!)

Features
  • Stock 1.8L Motor, 5spd, AWD
  • Unknown miles/km
  • Terra Trip 303+
  • Peltor Intercom
  • Seat brackets sized for Sparco EVO seats, positioned low for 6’+ driver
  • KYB AGX Suspension
  • 6 Hella 500s on home-made light bar
  • 4.44 final drive (plus spare stock final drive and diff)
  • Skid plate, diff cover & underbody protection
  • 4 Kuhmo Victoracers on 14in Subaru Alloys
  • 4 All-seasons on 15in Subaru Alloys
  • 5 Snow tires on 15in Subaru Steelies
  • 4 Gravel tires on 15in Subaru Alloys
  • Various spares, including 3/4s of a set of ProFlex Bushings

Available Separately (there will be no other "part-outs!")
  • Tien HG rally suspension (needs rebuild, $1,000)
  • New Sparco EVO L seat ($550, local only)

Currently Needs:
  • Rear subframe nuts re-welded in the frame rail (this is why you can't drive or roll it away)
  • Left rear hard brake line to be replaced
  • Metal work to fix holes in driver’s side floor
  • Re-design of skid plate trailing end attachment
  • Exhaust repaired and replaced (darn those big rocks)
  • Seats

Send me a PM if you are interested.

Don't bother low-balling, 2.5k is really low already and if 2.5k is a lot of money to you rallying is NOT your sport. Nothing will be sold separately except the items listed as such.

Thanks,

Alex

I do not know what you are talking about, what makes you think it was crashed? I finished the 2006 Rally Defi in 13th - results here See all those DNF's below my result? Nearly half the field DNF'd, but not us!

The car has no offs, the 1 DNF was mechanical and it was the prior owner.

Hmmm, yes, but why on earth would you want to trade me a perfectly good 2006 2.5i for a rally car I'm asking $2,500 for? Why wouldn't you sell that first, buy my car, and keep the rest of the money you got for your car and use it to fund your rallying? Trading that for my car is such a dumb idea I can't believe I'm even humoring you by replying...

FYI - I have two serious inquiries, both of whom are planning on coming to see the car this weekend. There may be a deposit on the car by this weekend, so speak up now if you are interested!

well, I was asking if it interested you, not if you wanted to trade. But since your soooo sarcastic I will not be coming to look at this in the following week as I had planned. Thank you though, I will finish the car that I am building! See you on the stages!

A top notch cage will go for just as much.

westy2005, for that price the car will sell soon. It's your loss.

I know all about it! I am in the process of moving from Vegas back to the East coast and money is tight right now. If I were staying here, it would already be bought and waiting at my families house in PA.....I will just have to go through the whole process myself and tack on another year or two, and alot more money.....GLWS

Tough not to be sarcastic when your first post implied that you hadn't read part of my add. I don't need another car, I'm actually going to take the trade I would consider bit out having changed my mind.

You can expect to pay more than $3,000 for a good cage now, the price of steel went up a lot. This is a fair price for my car given the condition it's in, it's hard to ask for more for a car that doesn't run or roll at the moment. Apparently I should have asked for more anyway, but I'm not going to be a jerk and increase the price now...

I know about the cost of materials, and the prep work to install a cage...I have had a few built for the DSM's that I have owned. I wish that I was already on the East Coast again, and didn't have all the moving expenses to deal with, I would gladly pick this car up as well as the other that I just got. Best of luck to you with the sale, if its still around once I get settled in, and can find a garage for it, I will be in touch....
