Question Will EJ22 and EJ25 Intake Manifolds Interchange???

Hey all. I'm swapping a 2.2 from a 2000 OBS into a 1999 Legacy Outback that had the dual cam 2.5 in it. Obviously, there are some major wiring issues, but I think I can remedy those. Here's my big question:

Can I use the 2.5's intake on the 2.2? I haven't removed the 2.2's yet, but so far they look like they would interchange. Will they?

I don't think it will fit. Do you know if the 2000 OBS is a phase 2 2.2 or a phase 1? I can't remember what they had off the top of my head. If it's a phase 1 2.2 it won't fit for sure, I don't think the phase 2 2.2 fits either not sure on that one.

Nope the 2.5 intake manifold is wider, there is even a difference in the bolt pattern between the SOHC and DOHC 2.5's. Still it is definatly wider than a 2.2 or 1.8

Yeah, looks like they won't swap. Not the end of the world, but it does create a couple of issues I'll have to address. I'll post a couple pics later with questions as I get into the wiring swap on the top of the engine. But one quick opinion/advice needed:

The end plugs that snap into the injectors is different on the 2.5. So, would I be better to simply swap the 2.5 injectors into the 2.2 manifold (to match the swapped wiring harness) or should I leave the 2.2 injectors and just splice the plugs from the 2.2 harness onto the 2.5 engine harness? (I assume the wiring going into the plugs is the same.)

Whatever happens in the end, this is a fun experiment...

You can take care of the intake by just using your throttle body on the 2.5 manifold. On the injectors, just splice the 2.5 injectors onto your wiring harness. You will need to also splice the temp sensor/guage onto your harness as the 2.2 uses 2 different sensors and the 2.5 is a single sensor with 3 wires. you just wire your old temp sensor to the top 2 pins of the triangular plug, then wire the single guage wire on the bottom pin. Unless the DOHC 2.5 still is using the seperate sensors. then just make sure they plug into your harness, if they dont then splice them. any other questions?

I crammed a SOHC 2.5 into my car I built from scratch about a month ago, I am using a '93 wiring harness and ECU with it.

Here are some videos of the car, as well as some pics;

It think either way would work on the injectors, but it may be best to keep the same injectors with the same computer. I'm not sure if they are the same cc's and latency. I think they are but not sure.

One other thing here. Count the teeth on the crank sensor wheel/timing belt crank pulley and look at the cam pulleys on both engines. It may be different.

The injectors may be different, i was looking for a spare and found that the DOHC engines are all shorter than the SOHC, they are unswapable. Also the 2000 SOHC injectors are different AUTO-Manual. I don't know why they just are. That was confirmed by subaru when I called to check.
