Question 94 Impreza Tires..

Hey all.

I have a 1994 Impreza base (non-WRX, non-AWD, etc) and it has the stock 13" wheels.. we just got the car this way and the tires need to be replaced.

I'm in the process of installing 18" wheels on my cb7 (91 accord) and my old tires are almost new (205/55/16 Pirelli P6's).. ideally, I'd like to buy some 16" wheels for the Impreza and re-use my 205/55/16 P6's, but I'm not sure if they'll fit or not.

The recommended sizes I've gotten so far are;

205/40/16 (Base Model)
205/45/16 (Base Model)
205/50/16 (AWD version)

The overall diameter of my 205/55/16's is about 24", and they look like they'll fit.. but I don't want to purchase new wheels for the car to find out I need to buy new tires as well.

Anyone here use a 205/55/16 on an early model Impreza, or know if it'll safely fit? I'd be buying a wheel to match the tires, the wheel would be closer to flush with the fenders than the stock ones are.

Thanks in advance,

PS: Here's a what a tire calculator had to say - and I don't mind the speedo being off slightly, I've lived with it for years on my cb7;

The white lines represent the old 13" tire.

I have had 205/50/16's on wrx rims on both a 93 and 95 Imprera without any fitment issues and plenty of room to spare and that is with springs and a 1" drop all around. Your tire is ony a little taller and I think it would fit but I have not tried it.
