Camera Tickets
My friend today who works for the DMV said if you receive a Camera ticket to throw it in the trash . It seems like it is very difficult to actually get you on the ticket if you never respond, he said only 4-5% of people who get violations and dont respond get served . Ive also been told this by my uncle who is a lawyer that this is true . I dont know if this info is true or accurate just putting that info out there that was told to me .

yeah this topic has been covered like 100x's already, but.... the crazy german guy who threw 50 of them away. I think he should watch the news and the chick who had like 70 tickets that never responded too. turns out she gets busted at the airport when she got back from vacation... reports recorded the whole thing.... I sure fire way to the cameras is....dont do speed or run lights...

She only would of got in trouble if she did a criminal act not a civil speeding ticket which is a non criminal offense . The law clearly says they have 90 days to serve you . So she got busted on something more than just speeding tickets . |

The number is very important... the more you tickets you throw away more chances you have to land in that 4-5%. If you do get "lucky" and get served, trying to fight 70 tickets is going to be a pain. Unless your uncle is a lawyer of course.
Ultimate moral of the story is don't speed or run red lights, especially if there are cameras around. The only fun speeding is at a track. |

Of course she jacked up her chances of being served with 70 tickets . But im sure that most of those will be thrown out due to th 90 day policy guided by state law . Personally Ill drive like I always have, if I get a ticket oh well ill throw it in the garbage and most likely that will be the end of it .

She must of acknowledged or been served on those tickets . You just cant skip a step in the system the police and the courts have laws and guidelines they have to follow as well .

guidlines... lol you must not have much experiance with the cops... I know of a lot of dirty cops. heck, i use to sell "insurance" to massage parlors so they wouldnt get raided by the local pd. just remember. if a cop really wants to bust someone they will... just look what they did to oj. there are a lot of innocent people locked up as we speak because laws and guidlines have been overstepped, and if you dont believe that, you must have been raised in a very sheltered world. no offense or anything...

it depends on what you were cited for and your record.. when they first put the 101 cameras up.. some kid with an STi was flashed at 120 mph during the grace period before they were sending tickets out.. the police showed up at his family's house and arrested him THAT night. it's easy to fight camera tickets. you are better off doing that then just leaving a ticket outstanding. do your research.

It depends where you got the ticket and where you live. Scottsdale is the only juristiction that I know of that will send a process server.. The servers will show up at your house anytime including as late as 9 pm. They also have been known to wait near your house and watch you pull in, then knock on the door. If your home and don't answer(and he knows it), he/she can legally leave the summons on the door step and report to the court that you were served. This is how the lady with 70 tickets was arrested. The server saw her through the window of her house and she wouldn't answer the door. Anyone that lives at the residence HAS to accept the summons for you and you are considered served. This means parents, roomates, spouses, girlfriend ect.. If you can hide for the 90 days(really 60 because the first 30 is the time it takes them to realize your blowing them off) not be seen and don't let anyone that lives with you answer the door, your set. It's hard to do, and if they catch you you get a process server fee tacked onto the original fine. This is what happened to me. I do know if you have out-of-state plates your golden.

I've seen the stories on the people that got busted and were made an example. Those publically made a skeptical of the system, ignored most, but sent in "screw you letters" in response to some. Those responses got the warrants, and the rest of the tickets were served with additional fee's for that service under the 90 days.
The law states you have to be served a ticket, and that they have 90 days to do just that as long as you don't acknowledge the ticket in anyway. Once that time passes, they become null and void BY LAW. Stupid people acknowledge/pay these tickets which is funding more of these camera's targeting more stupid people. Eventually, once camera's on every corner and money becomes no object... then they will push for laws which enforce the tickets and this loophole won't work. These camera's are owned and operated by private organizations which get a cut off the top of every ticket paid.... that's a fact. It's merely a profit system scam, not only a way to enforce the law. Stupid people drive our economy. Last edited by irascible; 08-29-2008 at 02:10 PM. |
