Default Help with finding new motor

Alright well basically i just want to get some input and maybe some suggestions from people who have gone through this situation.. Im in the process of finding a used motor for my 04 wrx. Apparently these are very rare to find around the Pittsburgh/Pennsylvania area. Ive called all the local yards and engine shops around looking for the motor but cant find anything as far as the motor i need. I found some of those nationwide engine retailers out of the phone book and got some reasonable prices from them but the motor needs to be shipped in from half way across the country. Seeming this is my only option i just wanted to see if anyone dealt with any of those companies before and could recommend who would be good to deal with and all, and which companies to stay clear of. Any recommendations on what to do? Please let me know. Thanks.

I had a similar situation as you. I had a choice of getting a used 2.0L for $2500 or rebuild for the same price with a warranty plus some forged pistons. I ended up with the rebuild.

have you thought about a 2.5 and getting engine management? I know it's considerably more, but definitely well-worth it. I did that recently and am extremely happy with the added torque/hp.
