Lightbulb how to fix rear strut rattle?

how do i tighten the rear struts?

i removed the seat, removed the three bolt top and tried to tighten the nut and it was super tight already.

do i loosen the nut, adjust the allen screw first???? its bugging the heck out of me.

the tophat on my rattling strut was defective, causing the strut top nut to not be physically able to tighten it down, the nut was at the end of the threads, couldnt tighten any more, yet there was wobble room for the tophat between there, that was the rattle. Used my old tophat, problem fixed. yay

If they are stock STi struts, you will need to remove & disassemble the the strut completely. There is a nut on the bottom of the strut, once you've got the spring removed, undo the nut & remove the ''cartridge''. You will need to lubricate the shaft with some type of heavy grease..I used axle bearing grease. Search on here, it is a common issue with STi struts & the inverted design.
