Default 16" vs 17" for snow tires

Hey team,
I'm slowly checking into winter tires and have a question on wheel diameter size. I'm looking to get a complete tire/wheel package, so are there any reasons why I'd want one wheel size over another? I'm thinking of getting either a set of 16" or 17" wheels/tires.

In my area, potholes seem to magically appear everywhere during the winter. The 16" wheel gives you another inch of sidewall to help absorb those impacts vs the 17" wheels.

go for 16s its cheaper, otherwise it doesn't really matter. as long as its narrow.

I'd say 16's...they're cheaper and you can get a taller tire on there if you wanted to.

The best advice so far for 16's is to support a tire with more meat in the winter...cheaper tires is always a good thing!!!
