Default Problem gas gauge or not to worry?

MY00 2.5rs gas gauge reads properly when the car is on, goes up when its filled and drops according to use. It seems to display the right amount of gas. The problem is when i turn the car off, the needle stays where it was at. Is this normal. Ive had the car for a year and dont remember it being stuck after turning off the car. I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this and is it something to be concerned about or not.

Thanks in advance
