![]() OK so when i put the ebrake down the light in the cluster stays on. This started happening when it started to get cold however it has never happened to me in the previous winters. Sometimes the light will come off right after i put the ebrake down however it lights back up once i start to drive sometimes. Just wondering if this happens to anyone else.

![]() it could be that there is too much slack in the e-brake cable, we had a '04 Sti in the shop the other day with the same problem, we just adjusted the e-brake cable from the center console and it made the light go off.

![]() Moved this to the Maintenance forum as it's a service issue. The brake light is also connected to the level sensor in the brake fluid reservoir, so when it comes on with the e-brake down it means the fluid level is low. When it's intermittent and goes on and off the level is marginal.
You should check your brake pads before adding any fluid, because the usual reason for the level dropping is worn pads. This of course assumes there are no leaks in the system. Replace any worn pads first, then top off the fluid if necessary after driving on the new pads for a while. If fluid is added first, before changing the pads, it may overflow later. |
