Awesome idea.

However, the reader is AWFUL. I've got a 24" widescreen LCD running 1920x1200. 100% zoom is too small to read. 200% zoom is too big to fit a page width in a reasonably-sized window, and makes me do a bunch of BS scrolling around. I suppose the 2-page view would be good for looking at some pictures, but for reading, a single-page-width vertically-scrolling view would be much better.

Yeah.... reader is crap. Why not just a PDF file, which has been the standard for digital distribution for over a decade now? It's a really cool magazine, and I'm reading the article about flying prototypes now... but the distribution method could REALLY use some work

The AM car looks so cool. I wonder how much downforce it can get? I assume driving technique is a lot different than a normal car.

The Zinio reader is the standard platform for Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc. Not saying it isn't flawed, but it is the system also used by the biggest car mags in the world.

They don't offer it as a PDF because they want you to read it, not download it.

After using the reader a bit more, I'll retract my earlier statement. It's not awful, but you do have to get used to it, and I can see how it solves some problems that would be awful in a pure non-side-by-side layout, like text flow that spans the bottom half of two pages. It also took me a while to discover that clicking without dragging will zoom in.

Wow... seriously? And people pay for it?

I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth with this, but there is absolutely no way in hell I would pay money to have to use that reader.
