Default Jdm engine swap

My wrx wagon has 200,000 so miles on it. I have seen jdm engines with 66k miles going for $1,500 on eBay. The body is in good shape, so I was thinking about purchasing one of these jdm engines. Any thoughts?

Depending on how far you go with the swap there are certain things that need to be done. Doing a full swap with the axles, diff, trans JDM ECU etc, is the best way to do it.

Otherwise some of the JDM engines have AVCS and some other stuff that won't work right with the USDM ECU.

It would be best to have a shop or someone do it who knows that needs to be done for it to work correctly.

If it's a jdm ej205 don't bother. If it's an ej207 and is $1,500, there's something drastically wrong with the engine or it's a typo.

ask for engine code, tranny code to make sure that you're
actually getting the good stuff.

My JDM version 8 swap was the best thing I've ever done to my car. It's a giant killer.

Nothing wrong with the older 205 JDM motor and absolutely no NEED to swap in anything with the transmission. It should have a higher compression than the US motor and the heads flow great. AVCS doesn't need to be enabled, you'll have more flow without it at the cost of gas mileage really. I swapped in a long block years ago on my 02 WRX and it was a great motor. I just paired it with a 16g turbo for nice mid range power.

Has anyone bought Subaru Impreza or any Subaru engine from ebay ?

I don't feel comfortable buying on ebay. I called Engine World Inc in Houston today. They have a fully Re-manufactured Subaru EJ25 engine for $1750. There website is http://www.usedjapanmotors.com/

Has anyone bought from Engine World Inc before ?

Let me know.

Mine is a DOHC engine not SOHC. I know these engines have head gasket issues. I don't want a used one. I prefer re-manufactured EJ25 engine.
