Default General Altimax HP

I just finished putting 200 miles on my new General Altimax HP tires with my 2008 Impreza 2.5i. They were ordered from Tire Rack for $85 each and installed by my local installer. Provided they wear well (which they're reported to do), I highly recommend this tire. They feel and perform very similar to Goodyear Assurance TripleTred tires, which I have used and am a fan of.

- Very quiet tire in the dry.
- Louder than the RE92A in the wet.
- Comfortable over small bumps (much better than the stock RE92A).
- Good dry grip. They hold very nicely and at the limit will gently let you know. They exceeded my expectations here and I'm very happy.
- Turn in is acceptable, about the same as the RE92A.
- Wet traction is excellent. I've just gone through a day of cold rain, often times heavy, and never had any problems, even when tried I pushing them. They never hydroplaned, even when I hit big puddles.

I haven't tried them in snow yet, but from reports, they should perform very well for an all season tire. Like I said, they feel very much like Goodyear TripleTreds, but are $40 cheaper per tire. If you don't need a performance tire, buy these.

I'll update this thread once I put several thousand miles on them.

There is a thread for tire reviews, up above with the stickies. You might want to copy and paste your review up there, so it will be around for posterity.
