Question Amsoil air filter EaA74 no longer for 04 Sti?

I just checked my air filter and blew it out using the exhaust off my craftsman shop vacuum. I thought it might be nice to have a spare should the day arise that it needs replacement. I went to the Amsoil site for a part number and the EA type filter is no longer listed. Anyone know why the Amsoil site no longer lists the EaA74 filter for the 04 STi 2.5 l turbo?

When I switched from a Subaru filter I checked and the rubber gasket is an exact match in size. The only difference I see is that the folds don't have as much mechanical support. The folds on the EaA74 filter are just sticking out up wind. The Subaru filter holds these folds with a box around the edges. I suppose in a high vacuum situation the folds could fold over upon one another preventing good flow though. Any thoughts or knowedge appreciated.

So far I have not noticed any signs of dirt up stream. I also do not see any change in MPG. So so far I believe the filter to be working well. My STi is stock with 50k mi for what its worth.

Please don't turn this into a filter debate. There are plenty of previous threads for that.

Amsoil still sells the EAA74. So you can just head over to the website and order one up.

It appears that they replaced the EAA74 with the Injen Intake in their product application guide.
If you check the 2005 STi in that application guide, you will notice that they have both the EAA74 & Injen Intake listed.
(And we know that the 04 & 05 STi's take the same air filter)
