Default 08 Stage 2 WRX... Day at the Dyno!

Today I decided to join my buddy to the dyno and take advantage of the rare cold fronts that hit South Florida. We hit up Fynetune performance here in Miami, FL.

After my friend finished with his S4, it was my turn... I did three pulls with the first in 4th gear and the other two in 3rd.

My mods are SPT CBE, Cobb DP and Cobb AP with OTS Stage 2 on 93 octane.

My first pull in 4th I ended up getting 205.2 whp and 267.5 ft/lbs torque.
2nd pull I did in 3rd gear and ended with 199 whp and 270.60 ft/lbs torque

All in all, I had hoped for a little better numbers in the horsepower area. But I guess this is a good baseline, plus I love the way my car drives. Hopefully I can get some more stuff in the near future and post better numbers!

Feedback would be great! Let me know what you all think!

Do you know where my numbers should be? I've heard it should be closer to 220 whp... but not sure.

They are corrected #s and the car doesn't sound like it has had a protune.

I doubt the #s are really that low for the mods you have. I bet a protune with 17-18psi of boost will put that car around 300-310wtq and 230whp.

How about the shop you got the dyno runs at? If you dynoed it there, they must have a AWD dyno an probably have a Subaru tuner there too.

They primarily work with Evo's and they said they can do a tune with ECUtek. I would definitely prefer to go with someone who specializes in subaru's.

I am planning on sticking with the AP for now and in the future when I get to bigger Intercooler, turbo, etc. I will try to find a pro tuner around this area.

Unfortunately, there aren't too many subaru's in my neck of the woods.

At this hp and tq level, a SPT exhaust is not a restriction. I think they are pretty free flowing in the 2008 models. I could see the SPT exhaust start to choke up a car over 380whp. Maybe over that even.

SPT dual systems are fine, it's the single tip that suck. We're pushing 400whp through a dual SPT on a 08 Spec.B

I saw somewhere here yesterday a stock STi putting up 215 whp and 260 wtq.

I did some research and my numbers are actually exactly 13% increase over stock. This is what Cobb claims as number increases for horsepower for their OTS Stage 2 map.

I will be making some changes very soon!

turboge - Are those numbers on your WRX!? If so, what the heck stage 2 do you have??? What do you have on there and what tune?

The 227 hp /340 tq is a reasonable for the WRX, but the ~260 hp and ~380 tq on stage 2???

This is on a customer car in Albuquerque. Numbers will be better at lower altitudes. Both tunes are the OTS XPT Stage 2 maps. Boost on the pump map was around 16 (altitude) and the E85 was 17psi. Both are designed to run about 1 to 1.5psi higher at sea level.

dude... I'm in Miami, as close to sea level as you can get. Those numbers seem out of hand. I know the Cobb map is ultra conservative, but if there are tunes out there getting that dramatic of numbers it's definitely time to switch.

My WRX is using the Stage 2 93 tune and its doing exactly the numbers Cobb is advertising (13% hp increase)

Thanks for the feedback

get a EBC (electronic boost controler) or MBC , Wideband and maybe an EGT and turn the boost up.
You are in FLA, the cobb ots maps are pretty leineint for sealevel.

Or not.

That has got to an STI. No way you are getting those numbers out of an 08 WRX.

Uh, he has an AP, no need to use an EBC or MBC to adjust boost. Just get the thing protuned professionally.
