Default few more exhaust questions

Exhaust setups are probrably one of the most talked about issues for a car. But to the point, the all pose the same purpose. I want to get an aftermarker exhaust carback, but what is teh main diffrence then just me going to a local exhaust shop and have then make me one? I want to get a 2.5 inch midpiping and exhaust all stainless steal. It would be cheaper to get it custom and just get a universal exhaust setup, but what would be the diffrence? The name on the exhaust? If both are made of 304 steal......whats the matter? anyone? if it doesnt really matter then i am going to teh shop this week.

Default two things...

The type of muffler and the type of bends in the piping.

Let's talk about the piping first. Sure, the shop will use stainless steel, but when it comes time to bend the pipe, they will probably use a crush-bender to bend the pipe into shape. What happens with this crush bender is that your piping will have a smaller diameter where the bends occur. Might not be too bad for the midpipe, but for the muffler piping itself, there are some very "sharp" bends in it. While *some* shops can do mandrel bending, it costs much more $$$ for the time, equipment and expertise to do so.

Now about the muffler. Just make sure the type of muffler you are getting is a good aftermarket brand that is of a free-flowing non-chambered/baffled design that doesn't have any extruding louvers. There are lotz of brands out there - just do a search.

If you don't want your car to be loud, you can also put in a resonator to quiet things up too.
