Subaru Stars WTB: Egt Sensor

I need to buy a new or used EGT sensor and i had a question would me car temp gauge say the car is over heating if i pluged my after market uppipe egt hole with a bolt lmk thanks.

that EGT sensor has nothing to do with the temp gauge in the car. that all has to do with water temps. youll be fine plugging the hole in the uppipe but youll get a check engine light for it.

but i won't lose boost then right because i installed the new gt 2 spec uppipe in my car plugged the hole with a bolt like alot of people do and no i barley have boost pressure and my temp gauge is of the chart.

your water temp gauge is high? that doesnt have anything to do with your EGT temp? What gauge are you talking about.

the stock temp gauge in the car is the one im talking about and im gona check all my gaskets because thats the only reason i could see the temp going up.

Im pretty positive that the EGT sensor is not causing your over heating. EGT sensor is for exhaust gas temp. Have you checked to see if you have a bubble in the cooling system?

so got a quesiton would my boost cut out or my motor whatever is freaking doing if the uppipe is plugged and if the header o2 is not working.

Are you talking about the o2 sensor that is on the header? or the egt in the pipe? If the one in the header isnt plugged in it would probably cause your car to run like crap. It is the heated o2 sensor and thats the sensor that gets all the readings for air/ fuel.

its plugged in but the wires got cut some how and im wondering if the car would cut out if the wires are cut.

like splicing the wires and hooking them back together i would try that but im not sure there is enough wire hanging off the o2.
