Angry PSA - Do not drive while eating peel and eat shrimp!

Well, the wife, 2 year old son and I were returning from a weekend at the beach with my latest purchase - a 1982 Supra for a 24 hours of Lemons race.

I spent a good hour strapping down this car, I didn't like towing it with Henry in the car, but took long open stretches of road and drove very cautiously. 4.5 hours into a 5 hour trip, a woman rams into the passenger side of my vehicle ( I was in the middle lane of a 3 lane interstate, she was trying to pass me on the right ) sending us into a flat spin.

Once it started there was no recovery, just hang on for the ride. Luckily the trailer led the way into the ditch took out the lane merge sign. Two witness stopped and said that the woman must be intoxicated as she was driving all over the road - left shoulder, crossing 3 lanes, onto the right shoulder and then weaving for several miles until she finally hit me.

The woman claims she did not hit me, and had no idea what happened. The witnesses heard her on the phone saying "it's my word against his", but later changed her story when confronted by the state trooper with the witness statements. The WAPCE admitted to the officer that she was peeling and eating shrimp (with cocktail sauce ) while driving.

She passed a breathalyzer, but was ticketed for 'Failure to maintain lane discipline/control'. In the end, we were very lucky, it could have been much worse...

The windshield was destroyed by the Merge sign (under the 4Runner)

Can you squeeze the lemon on the shrimp you've just peeled and then eat it whilst racing?

<-- is now hungry.

That windshield wasn't cracked before the accident, whether it wasn't or not.

oh my god. Thankfully everyone's OK after that. Must've been real scary with the trailer. Any damage to the supra or trailer? or the 4runner (except for the cosmetic stuff pictured?

Holy "deserves to be beaten within an inch of her life", Batman It's one thing to drive like you have no regard for others' wellbeing. It's another to be so callous and cavalier after you nearly kill someone.

Actually no. If I were to stereotype, she looked just like a strung out meth addict - sunken face, bad teeth, etc...

No doubt! I'm just really sore in my lower back, I somehow managed to keep my left hand on the wheel to try and counter steer and reached back and placed my right hand on my son trying to hold him even tighter in his car seat... made sense during the spin and slide.

I've seen a guy in Hollywood who drives with his guitar in his lap.

Not once but twice.

She tossed it into the ditch, trying to hide the evidence I guess. I waited a minute or two before I went up to her car as I was really pissed. It was nearly all I could do to restrain myself when she said "I didn't hit you, I have no idea what happened" I just looked at her and said "my 2 year old son is in that car you could have killed him" and walked away.

No pictures of her car unfortunately, but she basically has the inverse damage as my car - a nice "Darlington stripe" on her driver's side.
