is it the kind of gears that are straight cut and you have to double clutch or power shift to get it in to the next gear?
or did you get gears with heavy duty synchros?

oh yeah, could you hear my BOV when i was next to you while ago?

I'm betting he got the dog gears that MRT is known for. If so, they are un-synchro'd, so it is possible to grind. However, they are cut well so that you can shift normally without grinding. You just have to pop it into gear quickly. It will make some noises. For 1, the dog gears will make a whining noise when they are spinning. For 2, if you pop it into gear without double clutching like I just mentioned, you'll get some noise from the layshaft and gears hitting each other while they're out of synch(not grinding, just the teeth smacking into each other as the layshaft gets forced to the speed of the gears).

Should be fairly fun to drive though. Won't have the synchro's providing resistance as you try to shift quickly. So it'll shift much faster.
