Angry Please read before you purchase from Z1 Performance

Hello everyone,

As a member of this forum and others, I thought I should post my honest review with Z1 Performance. I tried to be neutral as possible hoping so this does not turn in to a childish bashing thread.
Please use this review as a reference and take it with a grain of salt.

Before i begin, I want to make clear that Adam is a good (not great) seller to talk with. His response time to any of your inquiries will be very short. You would almost get an instant reply regardless what time you send him a message. Though you will sense that there is an absence of customer "care" or politeness in his words. He just says the bare minimum words that needs to be said.


Things to make sure if you are going to order from
Z1 Performance.

1.
Make sure you are 100% sure you will be needing the parts. If you happen to Cancel your order for any reason, they will charge you a 25% Restocking Fee for items which they did not even had in stock at the moment. They will also charge you 25% for shipping as well. I was able to reduce the restocking fee down to %15 after talking with Adam but I don't understand why I had to be charged a restocking fee at all when the big items I bought were already in stock ready to be shipped (it was those vendor advertised combos) and the other parts still had a week of waiting time in order for Z1 to receive it. But since that is their policy to charge you a restocking fee as soon as you put your credit card number down, just make sure you are more than certain to purchase the product.

2.
Getting a Refund will be very difficult and will take a long time. It seems like Z1 Performance may be struggling with funds (follow link for more stories that support this argument). I did end up getting my refund and only because I opened a claim via my credit card company. It took me over 2 months to see the refund in my account and they told me numerous stories that I should wait longer for the refunds such as credit card processing time (up to 14 business days) and etc. They will wait until the 14th business day and then tell you that it has been processed and you should have the money in a couple days or so. This is all a Lie!
Here's a couple advice how to know if they have actually processed the refund procedure.

  • If you used PayPal. you're in good hands. PayPal Claim Department will solve everything for you.
  • If you used Google Checkout, you will get a letter from Google that your refund is being processed. If you haven't got a letter from Google, that means Z1 Performance hasn't processed their refund yet. Make sure you get the Google refund letter! I got my refund letter from Google the day I notified Z1 Performance that I filed a claim after waiting 2 months (61 days!!).

I ended up not buying anything from Z1 Performance but I wish to share the experience with the forum members. Hopefully this has been some help to you and none of us has to repeat what I had to go through.

BTW, the total order was $1506 including shipping and they charged me $226 for restocking fee.

couldn't you call your credit card company and tell them to cancel the charge? charging a stocking fee when you didnt even receive anything seems super shady.

Well add me to the list of disgruntled customers. I ordered a set of Recaros from Japan, a Sparco harness bar and 2 Schroth harnesses on January 7th 2011. Want to guess what I have as of right now? A tracking number for the harness bar. The seats supposedly arrived in the states back in August/September but the bases (that I paid for in cash in January) were suddenly out of stock. Now Rally Sport Direct has them in stock and after speaking with him 3-4 weeks ago about their availability from them, he said he'd get them from there and send them. I was told they'd show the week of Thanksgiving and they didn't, then they'd show the following week and they didn't and yet I can't even so much as get a tracking number for the bases that were supposedly shipped. I'm so pissed right now it's not even funny.

i'm in the same boat.
i ordered "in stock" chargespeed vortex generator and cf bottomline skirts (2 weeks away) in AUGUST. i'm still getting answers of there was a "shipping error" since november from adam. about to cancel the order and go elsewhere. there's a ****ing chargespeed USA in cali, how the hell can the parts not be around (especially because i talked to echelon motorsports and they HAVE the parts in stock).

I wish I would have read this thread before I send Z1 Performance $840 for mirrors that they admit they can not get but will not return my money.

This place is obviously bunk....... We ordered a clutch and flywheel for a 350Z back 4-5 months ago, and they won't answer when I call and it has been shipped several times...??? Never shows up!!!!! I am getting a lawyer and ending this once and for all before anyone else gets took!!! I am not trying to bash them or Adam, I am simply being honest......

I got shafted for a TOMEI Twin-scroll catless downpipe..

Spring 2014 .. .. E-mails and phone calls filled with excuses for about a year.

He lied about getting it from japan. The part discontinued. He then Promised me a 'Cheque is in the mail'..

Never saw any money...


any updates on this guy??
