Question Easy access point for +12V Ignition on

Hey there,

Kinda noobie question .. but ...

Could someone recommend an easy access point for "+12V Ignition on" near the fuse box or near the radio of a 06 STI ...

Furthermore ... the color of the wire I am looking for ... or a file picture would be useful ...

I tried to look at old post via "search" but found little that would aide an amateur...

Oh ... an I am putting the finishing touches on an install of a Laser Interceptor ... obviously ... hardware is my thing (vs. electrical) ...

Thank you for your help in advance ...

You could tap into the wiring harness that comes down from the ignition, which should be right under the steering column. You will need to supply your own fuse if you tie into this wire.
That radio harness will also have a 12 volt constant, and a 12 volt acc wire. Just be sure that the fuse for the radio has enough capacity to run both the radio and the laser interceptor.
There are all kinds of wires in/around the fuse box that carry a 12 volt acc line.

I don't have any documentation on the 06 model, so I am not even going to guess on any wire colors, sorry. I think you may have to find those on your own. Look around for threads relating to car stereo installs, other radar detector installs, etc. I am sure you should be able to find all that info on here.

If the cigarette lighter turns on and off with the ignition in an 06, that's also a good place to tap into... just get to the back of the cigarette lighter and tap into the positive wire. I'm guessing it's red but may be a different color
