Thumbs up Very impressive!

I wish Subaru would offer a trim level that is more off-road oriented, meaning: all-terrain tires, skid plates, recovery hooks—and yes, the dual-range tranny!

Even so, this video shows that the Forester—even in street digs—is pretty impressive off road. Just don't push it too far, especially if mud is involved...

You mean like the "Mountain Rescue" concept?

Well, that's a bit extreme, but you get my drift... Speaking of the Forester Mountain Rescue, I bet it would have handled that mud like a walk in the park.

To be honest, I would LOVE to see a new (off-road-ready) Baja, but built off this Forester platform.

I'm impressed, esp. since it was just running the standard road package. Now we just need someone to take it over the slick rocks of Moab......

Subaru ought to use some footage of this for an advertisement of some kind!

pretty bad-ass. after all this they can just drive home comfortably, while all those offroaders probably have to get trailered home.

That Jeep was insane. But yes, I wish they would offer a more off-road oriented version of the Forester. That'd be pretty cool.

For what the Forester is marketed and sold as, and the price, that is very solid performance. I would guess that a Rav4 or CR-V would not do nearly as well under similar conditions...

Did they modify the exhaust some? Or possibly puncture it? It sounded way deeper then I expected.

Meaning low-profile 55-section street tires. Can you imagine how it would have done with legit off-road tires?

Heck yes Subaru should use videos like that in their advertisements! No, no, instead lets have shots of people driving a kid to a scout meeting and some guy parking it in his garage.

I guess I'm the only one here whose mind isn't blown. I would expect any car based, cute-ute to be able to do that.

After seeing the monster jeep, I forgot this video was supposed to be about a forester.

I always wondered why Subaru never built a "Forester Outback"... It would rule all.
