Default Epic Motorsports

Last week I made the trip to Epic Motorsports (Fayetteville, NC) to clean up a previous tune that I had some issues with. I met with the owner/tuner Robbie and his crew and they were very friendly, courtious, and most importantly they really enjoy what they do.

The shop has several bays with lifts and are equiped to handle any install, service, or custom services that anyone could want.

After some introductions and a quick tour the car was on the dyno and ready to go. I'd been involved with tuning sessions before, but this was far more interactive and educational than any previous experiences I have had. It's obvious Robbie has been doing this for some time, has a very high level of knowledge regarding Subarus, and truly has a passion for tuning and sharing/teaching the process of tuning the car.

The first run showed the car was going lean then in the middle of the rev range and then pretty rich up high. The power was shown to be dropping at ~5,500RPMs as my butt dyno had always known. By the end of the session the power was hitting sooner, holding smoothly, and lasting longer, awesome! The peak power gain was minimal, but that's not what my issues were.

The drive home is where I REALLY notice the difference a good tune can make. Throttle response (low and mid-RPM) was significantly improved and with that full power came quicker too. Once the boost was full steam the power just seemed to go and go and go. Before the response was not perfect, and the power seemed to come in a rush of torque and an obvious drop in power as I mentioned before ~5,500 RPMs. Now the power was smooth linear and almost all the way to redline. It was obvious on the dyno that the area under the curve had been improved on both ends, flatter across the top, but with minimal peak gains I wasn't sure how significant the new power would be. WOW what a difference... A SIGNIFICANT difference on the road!

I can't say thank you enough to Robbie and his crew for providing an outstanding service and the improvements from the tune. It was very worth the 5 hour drive (each way) and I look forward to doing it again in the future. I HIGHLY recommend if you are in the market for service, install, or a dyno tune you consider EPIC MOTORSPORTS.

My installed aftermarket products:

GPMoto 4-2-1 header, Helix Catted DP, MadDad Cat-Back, Walboro Fuel Pump, Samco Turbo Inlet, Prodrive Boost Solenoid, Crawford Air/Oil Seperator, DeatschWerks 740cc Injectors, K&N Typhoon Intake, Perrin Crank Pulley, V1 Accessport Pro-Tune, 1-Step Colder Plugs, Killer B Motorsport Oil Pickup

Thanks again guys!
