Default Head-unit

Just wandering what after market head-units you selected and which ones matched particularly well with the Baja interior.

I've added new speakers front and back, a 4-channel amp and a mono amp powering two JL 6" subs that actually fit behind the back seat. Prior to this I had a shallow mount 12" Pioneer in a box behind the drivers seat. I had it vinyled so it looked alright, I just had to it take out whenever I had passengers.

I wanted to keep things in the dash OEM but I've been convinced that even after amps and new speakers my sound would be drastically improved with a new head-unit.

So which one offers up the best appearance in the Baja? I just need CD, digital receiver and aux in for an iPod...no need for navigation of DVD.

I bought this head unit for mine, it fits nicely and has an ipod interface (operates and charges the Ipod through the head unit) and a CD. Looks good, blends in nicely with the factory equiptment, and best of all you dont need a mounting kit, just a wire harness. It screws right into the factory radio mounting fixture in the dash, and once installed it mounts flush with the other console pieces. It also has all the pre-outs you'll need for your amps.
I have always used Alpine products and have never had any problems. Infact, I bought an Alpine head unit for my first car about 12 years ago. It has been used in 4 different cars since then, and is still in use in one of my other cars. Best money I ever spent on hookin up a car.

My criteria is double-din to keep a stock-like look, iPod control, front USB or aux, touchscreen, and volume knob is preferable. I'm still on the fence as to either the:

Kenwood DDX514

the Pioneer AVH-P3100.

or to shoot for the stars with something like the
Kenwood DNX6140 or Alpine IVA-W505
