Default 3g Iphone S June 19th launch

Just wondering if anyone heard about apples announcements today for the new Iphone. I work for AT&T and this thing is going to be bad ass.
I am thinking of buying one and signing up myself aside from my work line I have.

any current Iphone users out there?

I don't know. This latest iPhone 3g"S" is pretty underwhelming. It's a nice improvement, but no where near what it was hyped up by every one to be. The gap between the 2g and the 3g was much much larger than the gap between the 3g and the 3g S. If you want an iPhone, get this by all means, but if you have the older 3g, this isn't worth the cash to upgrade.

I was really hoping for flash support,

It seems like many of the changes made were software changes and many are available on the older 2g and 3g phones with the iPhne Software update 3.0. And for what it's worth, many of those "new features" were available on other phones long ago (copy/paste, voice memo, text to voice, freakin MMS, etc).

I'd still like an iphone don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't ditch my current phone or a 3g model just to get this one. If you work for AT&T, you are likely getting a lot of the sales hype and marketing from everyone that makes it seem better than it is.

do you live in BFE

my experience with them in AZ has been great, tho it depends on the phone (like every other carrier).

everyone has their own opinion, I get tons of Verizon customers switching over. cell companys can be hit or miss

dude its going to 7.2 hspdpa (or some other acronym i cant remember exactly). the older, was either 3.X or 4.X i cant remember. its getting a 3mp camera with cam corder. its now 32g available as well.

i see what you mean but you gotta watch the video at apple.com about the S. the new software is sick.

It's going to 7.2 from 3.6 . The network conditions have to be just perfect to support that anyway or the phone will fall back to the next level. This works well in cities and places with great signal, but many people will never realize the full potential. Plenty of other phones have a camera and camcorder already and have had for some time. Many are also 3 megapixel.

Not dogging you or the phone, but video's can be deceptive. My LG Voyager looked awesome in the videos and ended up sucking ass.

Stupid Verizon.

It does have a lot of cool new software features but I already own a 3g and can't really justify spending $200 for a better camera/video and voice controls. The extended battery life is probly the only thing that could entice me to buy one but until my battery takes a dump it just doesn't seem like a smart move.

Yeah, the increased battery life must be a plus. I've heard that is a problem on the 3g. I wonder if it's software and hardware tweaks that increase the battery life (I know it gets a faster CPU, maybe more efficient CPU too?) or if it's just a better battery unit (more energy density or something). If it was just a better battery, I wonder it it could be put in the older 3g?

no bullisht. I'm so upset with Verizon right now. My phone has been getting calls from people that aren't making them. IE I got called 15 times by my friend sitting next to me, when his phone was OFF. I've honestly gotten called close to 300 times in the past 2 days, and I guess my phone is calling people and hanging up. Forget Verizon.

Its not really worth the hassle though. The gains are almost non-existant. I will just upgrade my firmware, talk lots of ***** about the 3Gs not being worth it because secretly i can't afford it and then in a few months buy a 3Gs and hope no one notices....

haha exactly

but the firmware upgrade is where its at. 3g users will still get a great upgrade to what they have.

and above I do see your point in other phones have some of the iphones new features, but its the fact that those phones ARENT the Iphone. its apples stupid strategy of adding little things like a video camera or MMS or googlemaps being turn by turn. Always gonna get you to upgrade.

battery life is going up due to cpu effeciency from what I've read. Everything about the phone is more efficient and the battery life is supposed to trump the 3g. The 3g's battery life is pretty solid (we play pandora radio on our demo Iphone all day every day and charge it every other day).

to me the S is bad ass and worth the money for a 32g if you dont have a 3g now.

I think AT&T sucks in any good sized city.. which makes no sense. But if someone really wanted one.. Now would be a good time to pick up a new past model 3G for 99 bucks.. the new software is the biggest thing.. the batt wasn't that bad.. and by the time it really doesn't hold a charge.. you'll prob be ready to move on to a new unit anyways.

by the way, brock, does V use a different technology than alltel? My contract with alltel finally is up in DEC. I have had them since I moved here to SD and they have the worst coverage in the universe. My cell is my only phone and it's almost unuseable.. I'm trying to figure out if V will be any better? Alltel was fine in AZ for me.

I have the 3g and I absolutely love the iphone! I have had excellent service with at&t, even in BFE Queen creek. I have watched the iphone 3Gs and it looks amazing, I even read that they are getting MMS support as well. The 3s seems to fix every "want" that I wanted on my iphone. unfortuntly The phone is like 688$ w/o a contract, so i'm going to have to stick with the 3g =(. The palm pre does look quite badass tbh..
