Default Exhaust fitment

Hello everyone I have an 05 Wrx with the stock exhaust and I recently purchased a catback exhaust. The end that connects to the midpipe has a taper and I was wondering if I needed a special adapter for it to seal properly with the rest of the stock exhaust.

Here is a picture of the taper.

You're talking about where the mid-pipe is connecting to the stock down pipe? If so then no you don't need an adapter. But, being an 05 you may want to buy a new OEM doughnut gasket.

I'm talking about where the catback and the rest of the exhaust meet. Like when you buy a catback and hook it up to the rest of the exhaust

Catback goes to the downpipe so you probably won't need this.

I think you are referring to an axle back and the link you provided in the first post doesn't work

Yeah I'm talking about where the catback and downpipe meet. The aftermarket catback is a
5zigen brand with a 3 inch can and two resonators but where the catback and the downpipe meet, the catback has a taper to it.

if your exhaust is a INVIDIA Q300, then you have to remove the tapered gasket. I installed my INVIDIA Q300 while back and had to remove the teperd gasket in order to fit and complete the job.

I used a flat screw driver and gently removed it out of there, and yes the only gasket on the exhaust its self it will be the one near the J pipe under the driver seat or middle of both pass/driver right after the engine.

It's not a q300. The exhaust has a taper on the end where it connects to the downpipe and I think its like 2.5 inches? I was wondering if the stock donut would seal up it up as its not a full 3 inch exhaust
