The Official Project 1 Outback
Its been a long time coming for me to be able to tell the complete story of this car. This car is my first car. I am now 24 and have had this car since i was 17. The car was a leased car for the first 2 years of its life. My family used this car to move pets, yard debris, and building supplies. You name it this car has had it in it. I began to modify it when I came across NASIOC. The WRX was just about to come out and I loved the thought of having my very own modified Subaru. I knew from the get go that this car was very much a family carryall but that never bugged me much. I just knew that I wanted to make it my own. When I met Ron (Greenlantern), Armin (Verdugo), Jamie (Subiegal), Dave (Saggiowrx), and a host of other enthusiasts my enthusiasm to modify the car spiked and has never dwindled. Many people have seen this car go from the stock suspension outback on the Cascade loop cruise that was lifting the rear wheel in the twisties, to the show winning wagon it is today. The car has been through 5 stereos, 2 exhaust setups, 4 suspensions, 2 engine configurations, and multiple exterior mods. I am about to begin the transformation which will be the end all stage. The cars newest theme is based off of the Japanese touge (Toe-gay) cars. A special thanks goes out to Armin and Garret of World One Performance for always helping get the best parts available, Tex Walker for his awesome Vinyl skills, Erich Br$%#$#@%$ for always being the one who questions my modifying ideas, and Project 1 for being my car culture family for over 5 years. Also, a special thanks goes out to my fiance Suzy who has stuck through my frustration, midnight shopping sprees online, and continuous modification:to make this the best car that I can.

Car is getting some work done at the moment, I'll hopefully have pics with the new Enkei's shortly.
My 97' OB was my first Subaru, and it's stayed with me through a half-dozen of the damn things. She's got 270k on her, and they haven't been easy miles, but she always comes back for more. It's my truck, my hauler, my moving van, my loaner (it's the town bike - half of my local club has had the keys at one time or another), my drunk bus for buddies, camping base, etc. It's original paint - she's been around the block a few hundred thousand times but still cleans up decent. Power is certainly not the strong suit (she's probably up around 175-180 if I'm charitable), but she'll pick up her skirts and boogie when you push her, and once it's rolling on a backroad, it will surprise a lot of faster cars. I should know, I own one.....hehe. I've considered swapping it a few times; I even had a donor WRX rollover sitting in my shop for a while but never got around to it - life and all that. My STi fills my need for speed, and I like having a solid car with a great suspension setup that runs well on crappy gas, lol. That doesn't mean it hasn't been changed up and considerably evolved from how things started - 4 different exhaust setups, 5 suspension setups, 3 different BBK's, 6 sets of seats, 4 steering wheels, and that's just the start. Wheels.....well, you know about me and wheels. This car launched the Mafia.....that's all I need to mention there, I think. If you're a part of "the family", a vector of this car adorns your window already (and thanks for your support!!!) Whether you know it, or me, as the "wagon mafia" guy, "the wheel whore" (33 sets and counting), or "that one Outback", I'd like to think that it's inspired people to build something of their own out of these more common, but much less commonly modified Subarus. The car has been a great learning experience, and I can't replace it - it's just an Outback, bit Interior/Exterior Recaro SRD's, black with white stitching/black with blue stitching (don't ask, lol) Momo Daytona Carbon, 350mm, on DaiKei hub, with functional cruise/cancels (3 other Momos depending on the day) JDM WRX E-brake, leather w/ red stitching JDM BG STi pedal kit w/ dead pedal, gold/red. Sorry about that. We have to compress all the entries when the voting starts.
Please remember you (or whoever) can add as many pics (or vids or whatever) to the thread with new posts for as long as you remain in the running. |

Well I can't very well go against the don of the Wagon Mafia, now can I? Might somehow find my JDM projectors, covered in motor oil, under the trunk cover of my BK; that, and maybe get banned from the SL-i.net forums .
Besides, I've always hated the GF wagons (sorry guys, personal taste) for some reason, and I just have to throw some love for the Legacy's . ~ Scott |
