Default V2 STi clutch issues

I have a 95 L model that i just swapped with a V2 STi engine and trans. everything is done and I'm ready to drive it except I cannot get clutch feel. Pedal just goes to the ground. I've bled it and bled it and bled it and nothing. I'm using a 02 WRX pedal assembly with an 02 WRX master. The system is full of fluid and nothing is leaking. The slave is pushed up against the shift fork and no leaks and fluid comes flying out of the master and it doesnt leak.

Help please...

It took a good while to bleed mine. After following the instructions in the attached thread it worked like a charm. May be something to consider.

I think my slave is bad. Im at my wits end here. I figured if it was bad that fluid would come out, but I just dont know what else it could be. I litterally spent the entire day trying to bleed this thing and I get nothing but air. Is there something I should look for besides it leaking fluid that would tell me if the slave is bad ?

Are you doing this solo? If so get some help, an extra pair of feet and eyes really helps. I know you said the piston is against the shift fork, but is it moving when you press the clutch?

It took us a few hours and I didn't think it was ever going to bleed. I know its obvious, but make sure you have the return spring connected to the shift fork.

Only in the last several years of production have the WRX gone push. More than first decade of production of WRX's (and all the way back to 1989 Legacy turbos) have been pull style. I guarantee push versus pull is not his problem.

sti_95imp,

Something I do when bleeding the slave is once I open the bleed screw, I manually push the piston all the way back into the body of it. This essentially empties the slave but at the same time removes any air bubbles that can be caught up at the nose directly behind the piston.

It then take a little bit of effort to get the slave to fill back up, but it has always solved my problem when working with difficult slaves.

And you really to need a second body for the pedal. While it will usually stay pushed to the floor, if the return spring makes it pop up while you are walking around the car you're back at ground zero because it's sucked air into the system.

I always found it helpful to disconnect the clutch master cylinder rod from the pedal and push/pull the rod by hand. This was how I was able to start building pressure.

Thanks for all the help guys. After trying all of the suggestions made here and not having any luck, I called a friend of mine, who also happens to be a subaru master tech. He told me to do all the same thing everyone here did. Eventually he came out to my place and we (he) figured out that there was dirt clogging the master where the resevior feeds the cylinder itself. We tried to unclog it to no avail.
So in the end we swapped out the master, and the pedal feels fine.

Now I just need to put a few things together and test drive it. hopefully the clutch is'nt burnt after all this...
