Looks nice and more impressive than a rival S-class, 7 series or LS, but I still can't get over that this is the same company that built crappy, unreliable, unsafe cars in the 90's.

They really need to stop using the Hyundai brand on these prestigious cars. Get a luxury marque if you want to succeed in the US...or just read the history pages of the Phaeton.

The Genesis seems to be doing well for itself here selling under the Hyundai dealer network. But that is not to say that if they just made Genesis into a brand it would not sell better. I am not sure if it is the right move for them right now as creating a new luxury brand is expensive and takes a long time. Look how long it took Lexus to be taken seriously. Acura is still struggling in the Luxury market, but that has more to do with their offerings than their name. |

Once upon a time, it was well known that if you bought a Honda, the body would rust away, leaving you a rolling chassis with engine up front.. Things change.. as do brand perceptions.. The car is a good look imo... |

A little too much going on in the headlights, but still a very very big step forward compared to the previous generation. Regardless of looks, it'll sell well in Korea as it's still he best Korean car money can buy.

Who does these days? Just about every long-standing Japanese car was a facsimile of a European car.. American designers are starting to ape the styling cues seen on European models these days (look at the chunky stance and dimension of many of GM's recent efforts), even though the European models are shaped as they are because of pedestrian safety rules and the like.
Even when you look at the German marques, they are all busy copying each other.. BMW came with the 7 series and it's Banglebutt.... Followed later by Mercedes Benz and the S550 with a less offensive version of a Banglebutt... That 7 did not sell all that well because its styling was umm.. a bit ahead of its time. Fast forward to the new 7, and they are more in line with everybody else out on the market, styling wise. Cars that stand out a bit too much in the styling department tend to be extremely polarizing to the public.. And a lot of the time, although the car is memorable, it does not translate to $$$ in the bank for the car companies. They are all busy feeding off each other, with everyone being careful not to come out with anything that completely breaks the mold in the styling department. |

Thet take the best looking parts from various cars. It's a F'ng brilliant idea and the results are fantastic lately. I don't find anything wrong with what they are doing. And it keeps the cost low.
Creating a luxury brand would be a dumb idea. They don't have to, and it would just raise the cost of the car will all the seperate brand marketing and new badging. People ARE smart enough now, everyone knows Lexus is Toyota, Acura is Honda, and Audi is VW. It would be a waste of time and resources for Hyundai. |

Beautiful car, no doubt as well put together as the Lexus LS, likely more reliable than the S and the 7... I just can't get over the name, after the whole Daniel Radcliff fiasco.

This L body looks too coachbuilt. Real L bodies have longer doors from the factory.
