After you plug your aux device into the car's aux jack and you press the AUX button on the radio, does the radio's display show that it has switched to the aux input?

Do you have another cable you can try? Are your sure your aux device is outputting sound?

It's not uncommon for the aux jacks to fail (usually when someone bends the plug sideways in the jack too hard). If you're sure your MP3 player and cable are working, have your dealer fix it (should still be under warranty).

Let me ask this, is there a difference between an audio cable and auxiliary cable?

It says "CD/AUX", but when i press it, nothing happens.

Not really. Both names can be ambiguous. In this case, you're looking for a cable that has a 3.5mm (or 1/8" diameter) stereo plug at one end (to fit the car's aux jack) and the appropriate connector at the other end to fit your aux device (usually another 3.5mm plug for most MP3 players).

Here's the kicker, ready?

It has IPOD hookup in the center console too, would that disable the AUX?

That means either the aux jack is broken, or the interconnect harness underneath is disconnected (or has a damaged wire).

Normally, when you plug a 3.5mm plug into the aux jack, a little switch senses the plug and tells the radio to enable the aux button. Then when you press the CD/AUX button, the display should show "Aux".

With nothing plugged into the aux jack, the CD/AUX button will only switch to CD mode.

No. There's an iPod interface module that plugs into a different port on the back of the radio. So the aux input (3.5mm jack) should still work.

Did you ever resolve this?

I just installed a 2007 STi HU (C-124) with AUX and nothing happens when the iPod is connected I press CD/AUX. The iPod and auxiliary cable is functioning properly since it plays in my dad's 09 Outback.

I resolved my problem. Pop open the AUX box. The harness inside (the wire exiting the box) wasn't even plugged in. Probably when the seller was taking it out, he pulled too hard. All is well now and I love this HU. One of my best mods yet.

i pulled my shift boot off and looked in behind there...it's missing the section of the harness that goes from the HU to the aux input...

apparently they had an aftermarket HU installed bc there are two other dead end plugs back in there

See this for the aux interconnect harness your 2007 originally had,

and see this for how to order a replacement (if that's the piece missing, and nothing else was hacked up).

What do the dead-end plugs look like?
