Racecomp Engineering "Regular Guy" for GR Chassis

Finally, a performance spring designed with function over form is available for the latest Subaru Impreza STI. Incorporating the knowledge gained from designing a growing list of suspension and brake performance parts for the true track day and autocross enthusiast, Racecomp Engineering is proud to announce the latest addition to their line up. The Regular Guy Functional Lowering Springs for the 2008+ Subaru Impreza
STI are designed as the ultimate performance spring upgrade for the newly redesigned GR chassis.

Paying special attention to the completely new rear suspension design of the GR chassis, the Functional Lowering Springs provide a mild 5mm drop front and rear to maximize the extremely limited suspension travel available. Shorter bumpstops are included front and rear to take things one step further, resulting in more bump travel than stock. Rarely does an aftermarket spring set-up add suspension travel, but in this case it is a crucial design aspect that improves performance while helping to maintain a civil ride on the street.

Spring rates of 320 lbs/in front and rear are intended to work with the completely new rear suspension of the GR chassis, which has a lower motion ratio in the rear than previous Imprezas. In addition, the OEM dampers have been carefully examined on a shock dyno to match the new spring rates to the dampers.

Racecomp Engineering’s goal was to help cure the crippling understeer that adds to lap times at the track and autocross course. Studying the design of the new GR suspension, a new performance spring has been produced that adds to available bump travel, matches the excellent OEM dampers, and works in conjunction with the new rear motion ratio. The result is a car that handles extremely well from corner entry to corner exit.

Continuing the “Regular Guy” theme from previous Racecomp designs, the springs are colored black for a low key look. Coupled with the minimal drop, most people would be hard pressed to find anything different from stock….until the road curves.

Yellows-pm for pricing

With springs rates increased approximately 25% stiffer then the popular JDM Pink Springs, the springs are perfect for those with wider tires worried about rubbing, as well those looking for a little more rear spring rate to promote a more neutral handling characteristic. Much care was taken not to exceed the limits of the stock struts. The mildly progressive design and spring rates properly matched with the dampers ensure that ride quality is not diminished over stock. The car is lowered 20mm in the rear and 23mm in the front for an even look

Blacks-pm for pricing

Introducing the RCE Regular Guy Springs (RCE Blacks) Designed for use with standard STi inverted struts or Ohlins Fixed Perch Replacement Struts, these springs are intended for both the daily driven street driver as well as the autocross and track day weekend warrior. Using similar spring rates as the extremely popular and successful RCE Yellow Springs, but having a much more subtle/mild drop in comparison, these are perfect for STi owners not looking for a ride height much lower then stock, and yet are still looking for increased spring rates. Spring rates are still 10% stiffer then JDM Pinks with an emphasis on the rear rate, so you will still be outpacing just about everything on the track and auto-x course.

Wagons-pm for pricing

Finally, an option exists for Subaru WRX Wagon owners with upgraded struts! Rather then having to choose between spring rates that are too soft, like most wagon specific springs, and a saggy rear end, like most sedan specific springs, Racecomp Engineering is proud to announce an OEM replacement spring for the Subaru WRX Wagon. Designed for use with standard STi inverted struts, Koni Inserts, Tokico D-Spec struts or Ohlins Fixed Perch Replacement struts, these springs are intended for both the daily driven street driver as well as the autocross and track day weekend warrior. Using similar spring rates as the extremely popular and successful RCE Yellow Springs, but having a wagon specific ride height, these are perfect for wagon owners not looking to compromise either ride height or spring rates.

Track guys or anybody interested in upgrading their brakes should take advantage of our aggressive pricing on DBA, Performance Friction and Hawk.

DBA 5000-STI and WRX

With a two-piece design and a black Alumalite™ centre hat, DBA's 5000 series slotted rotors complement the looks of a great looking performance car. As with every DBA rotor, the 5000 Series 2-Piece rotor bolts right onto the vehicle with no mechanical changes needed.
All 5000 Series rotors feature Thermal Stability Profiling (TSP) for improved heat handling and Thermo-Graphic paint markings for effective heat monitoring.

TSP is a propriety process specifically developed by DBA for improving the performance of disc brake rotors. Benefits of TSP include:
  • Improved fatigue resistance to minimize surface cracking
  • Reduced rotor fatigue during prolonged heavy braking
  • Quick replacement, minimal ''bedding-in'' of rotors

Performance Friction

'04+ STI-dual bolt pattern

The unique Performance Friction slotted rotors use a combination of breakthrough technologies to eliminate noise and enhance rotor life.

-Our special machining process assures the lowest possible runout and thickness variation.

-Our patented slot design gives much higher brake bite.
-Our exclusive high temperature metal alloy resists hot spots and shrugs off the highest heat loading.
-Computer designed vanes maximize cooling air flow and prevent thermal distortion.
-Our two piece floating rotors are race proven in major motorsports venues around the world.

Prodrive BBK- 1 kit remaining

The kit comprises of upgraded discs, calipers and pads for maximum braking performance. The 4-pot front calipers, unique to Prodrive, are machined from lightweight aluminium to minimise unsprung weight. These are mated to 330mm discs featuring spiral venting for greater cooling capacity and a unique Prodrive groove pattern to continually clean the pad and resist glazing. The pad material has been specifically chosen to complement the characteristics of the discs, delivering improved stopping power.

The system has undergone extensive testing under the most demanding conditions to ensure consistently strong braking performance without suffering the traditional problems of cold performance often associated with brake upgrade systems.
