Default OT, i might get arrested, but you can laugh at my expense :|

First off, i'm sure you guys will love to laugh at me for this one, as i'm actually laughing at myself. forewarning: probably a wall of text.

Saturday night i came home from dinner pretty late... it was around 1:30AM. i Decided to go to a buddy's apartment and hang out. i got there and it was pretty docile, so i called a few friends to come join us.

So my friend brings over a couple of cute girls and we start talking... blah blah and so on, and we start leaving, and i'm about to take one of them back with me. On the way out of my buddy's place, there is a disgruntled guy inside the lobby-like area. grumbling about someone hitting him, or something.

I look closer... this guy has a giant gash next to his eye... he got hit pretty good. i look down. i see the top of a ****ing gun. holy ****. what do i do. the girls we are with are crying. my friend is freaking out. i play it "cool" (i was pretty freaked out) and told the guy that we were just leaving, and we didn't see anything. he's acting frantic and is saying "don't be scared, why are you scared?!?"

So we get out the door and get off that street, immediately. three of my best friends live in that apartment, so i start getting worried. i call up there and let them know what was up:
Me: "dude, there is a guy at your front door with a gun. get everyone upstairs and make sure nobody answers the door"
Justin: "are you sure?"
Me: "he. had. a. gun."
Justin: "alright..."

so then of course, i called the police. mind you it's about 3:30AM at this point. here is my conversation with the police operater:

Police: "9-1-1 whats the location of your emergency?" (name, address, ect. ect.)
Me: *gives all valid info, including my phone number and name, which in hindesight (sp?) i regret.*
Police: "what's your emergency"
m: "there is a guy with a gun standing outside my friend's apartment right now"
go through the whole description stage, was he shooting, does he live there, do you know him. No to all of the above
Police: "are you going to be there to talk to the officers?"
m: "are you serious? there was a man. with a gun. i am very far away"
Police: "well you should go back there and wait"
m: *are you out of your mind?* "i think this call is done."

i hung up after that...

during this conversation:
one of my friends spots a university police officer and reports the issue as well.
i get a text message: "dude, the guy had a pellet gun. he lives downstairs"
...oh great.

naturally, all of my friends were cuffed and questioned for about an hour. i received a call from the police during this time asking me to return to the scene. it was about 4:30 AM
i was
a: about a half mile away (on foot)
b: BAC > 0, not legally.
c: inhebriated in some other way, shape or form.

i knew i didn't have to be there, so i just went home and went to bed

sidenote: i didn't see the tip of the gun. clearly if it was orange, i wasn't going to call the cops. all i saw was the chamber, which was metal, enough for me to think something was up

this was all saturday night. about half an hour ago i just got a text from my neighbor:

"yeah, um **PD was here looking for you... but i don't think they went into your apartment or anything"
"someone didn't file a missing person report by chance, did they?"

so either:
I: I'm going to be in some serious **** for being concerned for safety
II: my friends filed a missing person report as a practical joke, which in jist, might be slightly funny
III: they found my ID card from last week, which i know they have (received an email)

so back to me getting arrested;

CN: guy has fake gun, i worry for safety thinking gun is real, i call police, i 'flee' scene, fake gun is fake, police knock on my door while i'm at work. i don't legally have to talk to the police regarding anything unless i'm actually "under arrest", right?

i'd read the story if i were you

P.S. no, the girl didn't come back, she was hysterically crying and flustered. her friend who was with my friend (that didn't live there...) drug her home in a fit of WAPCE crying or whatever.

The police generally don't arrest people for being a *****.

And what exactly would they arrest you for? Calling 911 for a man who was making threats and carrying what appears to be a gun? Chances are they just wanted to get a statement from you.

Don't be so dramatic.
