Default Cadillac CTS-V Wagon spied without disguise

Quote:
556 horsepower in a station wagon? For sale in the United States? From General Motors? Yes, it’s hard to believe — but soon it’ll be a reality, and we’ve got the pictures to prove it. This car has never been spied before, let alone shown without a shred of disguise — until now.

A few months ago, GM officially confirmed the car was on its way. The CTS-V wagon will be the third model in the CTS-V series, following the CTS-V sedan and forthcoming CTS-V coupe.

The performance wagon will share the sedan’s 556 horsepower supercharged V8 engine. With enough power on tap to rocket the grocery-getter from 0-60 in about 4 seconds, we suspect the CTS-V Sport Wagon will give the Audi RS6 Avant all it can handle.

The CTS-V will also do battle with the Mercedes E63 AMG Wagon and BMW M5 Touring. Mercedes has offered previous E-Class AMG models in America, but we’ve yet to hear whether the E63 will be imported. As for the M5, BMW has made it clear there are no plans to offer it here.

Want.

I was bummed that the G8 wagon never materialized. May have to get my wife's current G8 GT as a hand-me-down and pick up one of these for her in a few years... .

It's just a CTS wagon with the V bodywork and wheels. That car has the standard brakes and exhaust system.

Maybe it will be great but I don't know I just don't like the styling. I do see one problem though, I've become more aware of it since I bought my C30.

The rear window is going to get really dirty and that tiny wiper wont help much. They can't make it longer because of the vertical dimensions. Maybe they should have placed the wiper motor in the gate instead of the glass, could make the blade longer. It's not something you'd think of until you put a lot of hours in behind the wheel though.

It's somewhat ugly with its slap-on afterthought wagon body, but I'd forgive it

The fenders are flared, look at the last picture. Good flares, well blended back into the body. It you want unblended you can always get an OB. I am not a fan of the Caddy style but they seem to be well thought-out designs. Think they are growing on me.

Peace,

Greg

The Caddy looks great, but I'm more enamored with the E63 AMG and M5 wagons. Holy hot tamales!!!

I like the M-B much better.

Agreed, the Benz > M5 in this case.

Frankly the Bangled 5 series wagon is fuglish, looks bit like a hearse, not a sports wagon, IMO.

RS6 Avant is definitely the best looking super wagon.

The MB is beautiful but since they don't have it here, the Caddy will do just fine

And I'm sure even if MB sold it here, it'll prob be sold for twice as much than the Caddy wagon V.

Here in America, drivers who prefer station wagons to crossovers and SUVs are in a distinctly fringe minority. In spite of that, Cadillac has heard the cries from the wilderness and delivered the car we've been clamoring for. The CTS-V Sport Wagon is now finally official and production starts later this year.

Ever since AMG built a handful of Hammer station wagons back in the late 1980s, the idea of a family hauler with ludicrous power and torque has held a strange and twisted appeal for us. The V-wagon takes all the traits we love about the 556-horsepower sedan and adds the expanded cargo body style.

Aside from the tailgate, everything else is carried over, including the magnetic ride damping system, Brembo brakes, 19-inch wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s, and the asymmetrical half-shaft rear end to avoid axle tramp. Add in 25.4 cubic feet behind the back seats and 58 cubic feet with them folded and we may well have the perfect performance car. Did we mention the 551 pound-feet of torque?

Default 556-HP Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon Showcar: 2010 New York Auto Show

Quote:
Just the Facts:
  • Cadillac previews its 556-horsepower CTS-V Sport Wagon.
  • The Midnight Silver show-wagon will take the stage at the 2010 N.Y. Auto Show.
  • Pricing has not yet been announced for the production version which is expected to launch this fall.

NEW YORK — Dolled up in the same exterior paint that graced the Cadillac Sixteen Concept, the 556-horsepower Cadillac CTS-V Sport Wagon showcar was unveiled ahead of the 2010 New York Auto Show. But Cadillac was quick to point out that a lot of the showcar's color and trim elements "are not yet intended for production."

Cadillac confirmed that a production version of the CTS-V Sport Wagon will debut in limited numbers in late 2010. Pricing has not been announced, but it would not be surprising to see it start at $60,000 or higher. The 2010 Cadillac CTS-V sedan starts at $61,545, including an $825 destination charge. The base 2010 Cadillac CTS starts at $35,990, including shipping.

The rear-wheel-drive CTS-V Sport Wagon, along with its sedan and coupe stablemates, gets the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that delivers 556 hp and 551 pound-feet of torque. The engine is linked to either a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual transmission or a Hydra-Matic 6L90 six-speed automatic. Fuel economy is estimated at 14 mpg in city driving and 19 mpg on the highway.

Performance elements include Magnetic Ride Control, Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 performance tires on 19-inch forged aluminum wheels.

While many of the showcar's elements will not see the light of day, they add lots of glamour. The CTS-V Sport Wagon showcar gets the same Midnight Silver exterior paint first seen on the Cadillac Sixteen Concept, along with Liquid Silver-finished wheels and a black chrome finish on the grille's mesh insert. The rear fascia, upper spoiler and center high-mounted stop lamp are also unique to the showcar, said Cadillac in a statement.

The cabin gets special treatment, too, including midnight Sapele wood trim and black leather-trimmed Recaro seats. "The showcar's bespoke color and trim elements hint at the potential direction of color and trim in future Cadillac models," said Cadillac in a statement. "These elements are not yet intended for production, but represent Cadillac's desire to gauge customer reaction to new color and trim options."

Cadillac said the production version will come standard with performance seats with perforated suede microfiber inserts. Recaro driving seats are optional. An advanced navigation system and Bose 5.1 digital surround audio are standard.
The production version of this showcar will roll out first in North America, followed by Europe and the Middle East.
