Question Borla Headers good or not?

I just put in my order through Cobb tunning I've several opinions about them some say they are good some say they are bad I know that for a period of time the quality wasn't that great was it Gen 1&2 if I'm not mistaken right? anyway i also ordered the High flow cat I was goign to go straight pipe but I figure I'll keep it legal for a while anyway does anyone on the board have the same combo? ad how much of an increase would this combo give you? I have so far two Mods (engine wise) Apex'i N-1 Cat back system, Injen Cold Air Intake with this alone I can notice a difference, and I like it alot.

i am also not a p****

the last gen are fine, they fixed the cracking problem. the borla headers are great, not the best performance wise but the best sounding ones for the price, they are also the only ones that bolt up to the cat same as stock so it is good if you want to go FI later on. for now it is my first choice as well.

enjoy, and don't wake up the neighbors.

I don't have them, but I hear the last generation is pretty good. I have also heard that you should wrap them as to not throw a CEL... Let us know how it goes

Just put borla headers on my car last week. I already had the random tech high flow cat on the car. Install was a snap the wait was kind of long.(6WEEKS) No cel yet i was told by cobb to not wrap the header but to get it jetcoated instead.enjoy the noise

-Warranty (if bought new from vendor)
-Awesome awesome sound
-Proven company, been around for ages
-American company, warranty easier to deal with
-Easy install, bolts straight to stock cats
-CARB legal (I believe)
-Stainless Steel
-Can be used with turbocharger

-Stories of cracking, bad welds, banging (all those issues should have been addressed by now)
-Not the most efficient design (lots of bends)
-Not the most powerful design
-CE light possible
-For a bit more you can get more power
-Comes bare, no coating, no paint
-All you get is the header

-Most efficient design (LOOKS to be that way, so far)
-Comes heat treated
-Minimal amount of bends
-Comes with high flow cat
-Comes with midpipe
-Comes with exhaust can
-Pretty inexpensive considering what you get
-Thick walls, impressive build quality
-Many vendors carry it
-Could quite possibly be the best power from an N/A header (MAYBE!!)
-Midpipe MIGHT allow direct bolt on of other "Subaru" exhausts (maybe...not sure, but I think it does)

-Manufactured in Australia, sold through US vendors (make take a while to get it if it isn't in stock)
-If warranty repair is needed...see above note
-Just doesn't sound as good as the Borla
-CE lights more common
-Some issues with damaged cats
-slight modification to second O2 sensor required (but still very easy to install)
-Mild steel, could rust in certain climates
-Not CARB or smog legal
-Can't be used with turbocharger (at least, not easily)
-Stock can a little weak sounding (my opinion)

That's my take on things...and as always, open to discussion.

Anyone want to do a Pro/Con for the Brullen?...or Syms?

Borla - Pro: early generations were CARB legal
Borla - Con: later generations (3 and 4, IIRC) are no longer CARB legal.

MRT - the header isn't ceramic-coated, just painted with a different paint than the rest of the system.

Otherwise, a very nice summary of the two systems. If someone could add one for the Brullen, call it good and Sticky it or FAQ it.

FAQ you! Smurf off!
